First of all, I have neither cable nor any type of satellite. I got this link from a buddy who frequents these "tips for Satellite Owners" type forums: Some dude working for the company gives away the SCRIPT they use for people wanting OUT of DirectTV deals... http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=24099 Kinda long (about 11 pages for guests), but get through the tips and hints of what people have tried, and you're set. You will have to use street knowledge to fake out the operators. I don't know what all those codes and acronyms mean... good luck, y'all.
The problem is that Direct TV DVRs, so I've heard, suck horribly. Maybe some others here can disabuse me of that notion, but I have one of the last Tivos with Direct TV-help on it, it's starting to crap out every so often, and I'm NOT looking forward to having to use one of the DTV DVRs. SD -- thanks for the info, once I crack the acronyms, maybe there will be something I can grab outta this. Cheers.
All I know is I have DirecTV HD receiver w/ Tivo which I bought last August. Then, I'm hearing about the Tivo contract with DirecTV is about to expire. Then, they renewed it for another 3 years. But, after that, it appears to be that Tivo will be useless. I'm not sure what that means for the functionality. I don't think one will be able to use Tivo features or bring up the TV guide. I hope DirecTV has a plan for replacing all the worthless DirecTV HD Tivo boxes when that time comes.
