When I was in college they brought in the Spuds McKenzie commercials before they were released, and most of the class thought it was extremely stupid. The ads went on to do very well for Bud Light.
The Queen/David Bowie song "Under Pressure" is completely ruined for me because they played it right before our meltdown vs the Royals in the previous season. Funk #49 by James Gang on the other hand, went from a cool jam to an all time classic as it was played before one of our epic W.S. rallies this year.
I'm not a fan of the whole phrase. I think its dumb. But the commercial where the king asks the wizard to turn him into Bud Light does give me a little chuckle every time
he's lying, it's a clear clone of hear-hear. the double word, the agreeing context it's used, the British influences, etc... it's a modern hear-hear and there is nothing wrong with admitting that. it would still be funny, clever, successful, etc...
