Damn, I didn't even realize that. What if Mutombo will not get much playing time, that would be very disrespectful and not the way to end your career. I hope if he comes back Adelman makes the right decision.

P.S. Adelman also said they were going to give Deke more playing time, but that was because Deke had asked him to give him some playing time :(

Yesterday, he said they needed to first create some salary space [via trade] before they can add him.

Yao & Adelman are saying the Rockets need size behind Yao.

The Rockets can't sign Deke because of salary issues. However they could replace Von Wafer's non-guaranteed contract with another non-guaranteed contract.

I'm thinking Chris Anstey. Anstey developed into a good player in Europe after his short NBa career. Not that he's going to live up to Don Nelson's prediction of "He'll probably be the best-running big man in the NBA".

    2003 ULEB Cup MVP
    2004 FIBA Euroleague All Star
    2006, 2008 NBL MVP

He's been the leading rebounder in the Australian league for the last several years.

It's not unusual for clubs in the Australian league to release a veteran if they get European or NBA offers even if they don't have those out clauses in their contract.

Rockets could bring him in on a 10 day contract then if Adelman has any use of him sign him to a non-guaranteed contract and waive Wafer. That would have minimal effect on their salary situation.

He injured his ankle playing for Australia in 2005 and the Russian team he was with cut him not too long after that I think. In 2006 the Cavs had him in for a tryout camp. Other than that he's been playing in the Australian league since leaving Europe.

OKAY sorry for triple post but this 1st quarter of the Blazers game just demonstrates how much we NEED deke... seirously. Yao goes out and they start driving to the hoop and we suck.. Landry cant' defensive rebound or defend the pick and roll. ****ING just SIGN HIM! He doesn't cost more than Wafer!
