I've seen this argument brought up by others and it's pure deflection and avoidance of responsibility. It's another sign that the party of personal responsibility is hollow and further unmoored from principles.

The lack of manpower at the Capitol is one of the biggest questions that need to be looked at. On the Meet The Press one of the commentators said that there were only 500 Capitol Police on the grounds that day out of a 2,200 force. Given that this rally wasn't a secret and there was already a lot of threatening rhetoric against Congress why more LEO and National Guard wasn't there.

From what it looks like there were many LEO who did their duty and tried to protect Congress even at the risk of their own safety, it also does appear that many might've tried to deescalate the situation, but it also does appear that some were cooperative with the people storming the Capitol. What LEO did what and why will have to be sorted out.

The officer who died was a Trump supporter so obviously he was country over party.

For what ever reason, we just don't take white people as much of as a threat as black people.

To add even if all of the people who burned the Third Precinct and businesses around it were BLM and Antifa that doesn't lessen or excuse what happened in DC last Wednesday.

If you have to respond to a literal assault on democracy is with "what about Antifa?" shows that this isn't about principle.

BLM is not a movement driven by hate. BLM is not a movement affiliated with or driven by Biden. BLM chants "All Lives Matter" while these no mask Trump stance people are incited to hate and defy. Their cheer "Lock Her Up" as Trump smiles down on them stirring them up with hate filled propaganda and lies. Trump stirs the pot of hate. He NEVER speaks out with rage against white guys fueled with hate and violence against others! Never. I honestly think he loves every minute of it.

Looking back, Trump has been the master of manipulating these radicals into acts of violence and hate for months now. He is the reason it got to this point, and impeachment should be the LEAST of his punishment. Any Republican voting NOT to impeach should not ever step foot in the White House again. A vote no would mean that they stand for nothing but their party, and country and the people don't mean a hill of beans to them, unless they are Goya beans.

    Incitement to Riot?
In Michigan, a Dress Rehearsal for the Chaos at the Capitol on Wednesday

First came the “Unlock Michigan” protest. More than 1,000 cars, many draped with flags supporting President Trump, drove around the Michigan State Capitol, blaring their horns and decrying Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s coronavirus lockdown orders. Hundreds of others, many armed with military-style weapons, milled about on the lawn.

Two weeks later, on April 30, the dissent escalated. Gun-toting protesters rushed the State Capitol, not long after Mr. Trump tweeted “Liberate Michigan.” They demanded entry into the House of Representatives’ chamber, chanting “Let Us In.”

Heavily Armed Protesters Gather Again At Michigan Capitol To Decry Stay-At-Home Order
    May 14, 202010

This was the third planned demonstration since Michigan has been under a stay-at-home-order from Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Trump campaign official Jason Miller attacked Whitmer: “If we want to talk about hatred, then Gov Whitmer, go look in the mirror – the fact that she wakes up every day with such hatred in her heart towards President Trump.”

That was when armed protesters brought signs that compared Whitmer to Adolf Hitler, showed nooses and Confederate flags. Some signs read, "Tyrants Get The Rope.".

Plans to kidnap Whitmer, overthrow government spoiled, officials say

"Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor," an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit. "The group decided they needed to increase their numbers and encouraged each other to talk to their neighbors and spread their message."

From the video it looked like she was trying to climb through the window they were blockading. It wasn't clear enough for me to see.

Was it BLM rioting and looting or was it just thugs coming out in the streets during the protests in these big cities to loot and commit crimes like the thugs in Houston killing, beating and robbing people every day?

    FROM A FACEBOOK FRIEND:
    A tale of two Americas...

Kalief Browder was a Black man who spent TWO YEARS in solitary confinement and was subjected to merciless attacks by the corrections officers and inmates at Rikers Island during his time there. He was only allowed brief visits with his mother. The experience was so traumatic that it drove Browder to take his own life after his release. Kalief Browder was innocent of the crime he was accused of and held in Rikers without trial for.

In contrast, Jacob Chansley is a white domestic terrorist who painted his face and put on a buffalo pelt to invade the Capitol building in an attempt to overthrow the government. He recorded himself doing so. The judge presiding over his arraignment just ordered his diet in jail to be changed because his mother said the food he's being served IN JAIL is disrupting his organic diet.
    Sigh....

A tale of two Americas, still separate and unequal.

The city of Seattle, Washington, agreed Wednesday to pay $10 million to settle a lawsuit from a group of Black Lives Matter protesters who participated in the violent and destructive 2020 riots following the death of George Floyd.

A Wednesday press release from the city revealed that Seattle is settling a complaint filed by a group of 50 protesters in September 2020 who claimed they were injured by police while participating in the demonstrations. Seattle admitted to no wrongdoing.

According to the city, the complaint involved hundreds of interactions between the protesters and local law enforcement officials, over a million pages of records, over 10,000 videos, hundreds of witness interviews, and extensive court filings.

“This decision was the best financial decision for the City considering risk, cost, and insurance,” Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison said. “The case has been a significant drain on the time and resources of the City and would have continued to be so through an estimated three-month trial that was scheduled to begin in May.”

Above is an inaccurate framing. The Blaze is an extreme right media outlet with low credibility for spreading conspiracy theories, propaganda and failed fact checks.

There is no evidence that the plaintiff participated in riots or criminal activities. In fact, the city didn't make that argument; instead, they asserted that the plaintiff assumed the risks of injuries while exercising their 1st amendment right to peaceful protest, a claim the judge, of course, rejected.

    https://www.seattletimes.com/seattl...ettles-blm-protesters-lawsuit-for-10-million/

The city had argued that protesters “assumed the risk” of being injured by police when they chose to exercise their First Amendment rights to peacefully protest, an argument rejected by Judge Sandra Widlan, according to court records. According to lead plaintiff’s attorney Karen Koehler, the protesters “were engaged in a First Amendment speech and activity against the very police brutality which they were met with.”

Seattle will pay $10 million to protesters who said police used excessive force during 2020 protests | AP News

Seattle has agreed to pay $10 million to 50 demonstrators who sued over the police department’s heavy-handed response to racial justice protests in 2020, in a settlement announced by attorneys from both sides Wednesday.

At some points during protests, people in the crowds did cause damage, including burning police cars and trying to set a fire at the East Precint. But a federal judge ordered the department to stop using chemical and other weapons indiscriminately against against peaceful demonstrators.

Among the plaintiffs in the lawsyit was Aubreanna Inda, who was standing in the middle of a street before a phalanx of officers in riot gear when a blast ball hit her in the chest and exploded, causing her to go into cardiac arrest. Volunteer medics and other protesters performed CPR and brought her to a hospital.

Others included a teenager whose finger was partially blown off, a disabled veteran with a cane who was tear-gassed and tackled and dozens who suffered hearing loss, broken bones, concussions, severe bruises, PTSD or other injuries, according to the lawsuit.

“Historians should review what we collected and write the true story of the shameful behavior of our City against the Peaceful Protesters,” Karen Koehler, an attorney for the plaintiffs, said in a statement Wednesday.
