    DD,

I never said how he died. Please stick to criticizing me on what I actually say.

Lifestyle changes are the only way to lose weight and keep it off. However, a much safer diet to try is Weight Watchers. They don't eliminate any food group and it really works. All it is about is being educated as to what you are eating, therefore, changing your lifestyle.

Eliminating ANY food group is bad. It has been proven in the majority of studies on the Atkins diet. Just because a few recent new ones have emerged saying that it's good means nothing.

There are many studies that say chocolate or wine is good for you, while many others contradict it. The key to anything is moderation, IMO.

    Thanks rimbaud! :)

If you really want to supress your appetite, there is one simple solution:

    Ab work.

Do sit-ups, crunches and leg lifts (lie on back, raise straight legs up into the air) until it hurts and you absolutely cannot continue. The next couple of days, your stomach area will be so sore that you won't want to eat. You will feel almost sick. As soon as you start feeling normal again, do another ab workout, but make things more intense.

Here is one of my general ab routines:

*** It is important that you do all these exercises one after the other with no stopping in between.*** If you need a bit of a breather, then lie flat and do a few fast crunches (take 5-6 deep breaths between each crunch) before moving onto the next level.

    - start off with 30 regular sit-ups

    - 10-12 crunches before moving onto the next stage

    - 25-30 "weighted" situps (holding a flat 5 pound weight against my chest)

    - 10-12 crunches before moving onto the next stage

    - 20-40 "twisting" situps (go into a situp position and twist torso back and forth 4-5 times before coming back down -- you see Mr. T doing these during his training montage at the beginning of Rocky 3). Great for the sides of the abdominals.

    - 10-12 crunches before moving onto the next stage

    - 20 leg lifts (these are killer -- you can really feel your lower abs stretching apart)

    - cool down exercise 10-20 (stand up, place both hands atop your head and sloooowly bend your torso side to side while facing forward... keep your abs clenched and you can feel it working your sides)

Seriously, if you do enough ab work, your stomach will feel so sore and sick that you will not want to eat very much. You really have to go full tilt for it to be effective, though. As a side benefit, eventually your abs will become a lot stronger and if you lose the fat, you'll have a nasty six pack (I'm still working on that part).

    Good luck.
