You can't vote if you're on probation? Seriously? I had no idea. That seems completely screwed up.

I figured you were a convicted felon or not a cit.
I'm a registrar and I had NO idea people on probation couldn't vote (unless they've been convicted). Interesting.

It's just a condition in my probation. No idea why they added that one in, but I don't think anybody else has the same.

But convicted felons can indeed vote in Texas. They just have to be done serving their sentence and parole.

    No they can't.

Give me your e-mail and i'll send you pictures of the documents the country provided me with clearly stating they cannot.

    no_answer was WRONG!

Felons regain the right to register when pardoned, 2 years after recieving a certificate of discharge from the appropriate correction institution, or 2 years after completing a period of probation. Call your secretary of state for more details.

Atleast now I know. :) I can't wait to tell one of my friends! He'll be stoked that he can vote again.

I didn't vote in the Primary, and haven't voted yet since I've been eligible. I will vote in November. Between the Presidential vote, and the highly contested Congressional race, (TX U.S.- Dist. 19) with 2 incumbents running (thank you redistricting), every vote counts.

Hey Robert. Haven't seen you on here in a while. You still in Lubbock? My kid brother is at Tech right now.

Yes, I am. Still running KFYO Radio (790 AM) and doing midday news most weekdays.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Red Raider Basketball after the season ends. Coach Knight during the "Senior Day" festivities gave a speech that could be almost be considered a "good-bye" speech. He thanked the past administration that hired him (Chancellor Monford & President Schmidley- now @ OK St.) but then talked about how Ohio State was home, and how Lubbock and Tech were now "home", but why would you go out of the way to thank the past administration?

On another note, Coach Bill Parcells apparently talked to the Red Raiders today before their win against Colorado.
