Actually, both Ron and Trevor helped this team in their one year, but neither was a big impact overall. Ron had probably lost as many games as he had lost for us. Morey runs numbers all the time, I am sure he saw the +/- of Ron as not particularly good, hence to let him walk. As for Trevor, maybe he is just a bit slower in learning, but I think he was thinking too much last year. He seemed to often be hesitating on what to do, whether to shoot, to pass, or to dribble, so when he eventually shot, the shot wasn't great. This is his second year, he should become more comfortable.
I'll echo many people's sentiments about not being crazy about his shot selection at times. That being said, he gave his all every game and played with a passion that I wish more NBA players would have. Also, Ron was cool with the fans. I remember being at the Rocket's Play Day that season and all of the starters seemed like they were basically there to put in their time and then they disappeared. Ron-Ron on the other hand was in the thick of everyone. He played games with kids, high fived everyone as he was walking around and genuinely seemed like he was enjoying himself (Dorsey and Cook were really cool too). People shouldn't hate on Ron. He wanted to stay in Houston and we didn't make him a legit offer. I'm glad he got a ring b/c he's one of the guys who really deserves one.
I liked having him here for that one year. He made an impact whether you admit it or not, and helped push the Rockets to the next round. You could tell he loved the city and fans too and that's always a plus. That being said, I had no real feeling when he left for the Lakers. It was his decision to make and he had no ill will for the organization.
