i love ron, but he needs strong leadership to stay in line. yao, and tmac weren't strict enough for him.
You mean the first round where he averaged 15.6 pts and 3 boards and completly disapeared for games 3-5 and got repeatedly lit up by Brandon Roy? He was a part of that success, but Brooks, Scola, and Yao were far more important to that team winning. I mean his best games were in blowouts anyways. We win those games with or without him. But yes, I did love Ron the Rocket. I'm glad he and his horrible efficiency and shot selection are gone, but I'm glad he was here.
No.... And, IMO, the Rockets would have gotten out of the first round with or without him, he was pretty average in the playoffs, and that is being kind. DD
The sig is meant to show the motards that players are not final products in just their rookie years, and that they do get better. Will Chase be as good as Kobe? LOL...odds are WAY against it.....but let's see how good he will become right here in Houston. DD
I like Ron Artest but he was not the reason we got out of the first round last year. That was a total team effort. He had has some big games, but so did Yao and Brooks.
I love Ron Artest. He's a truly interesting character. And, for me, the only positive thing about the Lakers winning this year was that Ron got his ring. That said, I'm glad he's no longer a Rocket.
Ok, that's fine. And really I agree with you. I love Chase's game and can see him averaging 13+ PPG this year. Hopefully he becomes the first SF off the bench and Battier becomes a situational defender ala Chuck...and hopefully he teaches Bud a few things about defense. I don't think he was a horrible defender, but with Brooks and Martin on the floor he needs to be above and beyond.
I really did. I was enjoying his passionate play (ok that did not sound good ) and his toughness. I'm glad he did/has overcome his demons for the most part.
It was a smart trade. Too bad we'll never know how far the Rockets could have gone if Yao had not injured his foot.
We would have gone to Game 7 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. They were fronting Yao in games 2 and 3 and that was giving us fits. We didn't have enough offense to get around that. It was the radical shift in play that got us to Game 7 to begin with. Now if they front us we have Martin, Ariza, and a far more seasoned and consistent Brooks to burn them.
