I grew up rocking "Luau chic". Those of you of normal size may not be aware of it, but for YEARS unless you went to a specialty store all Big Man's clothing was Hawaiian. If we wanted to get married, there was dressy Hawaiian, a funeral a subdued Hawaiian shirt....etc etc. Attitude wise I was into heavy metal of the hair variety in High School, I'm not ashamed of the music, in fact when I am feeling nostalgic I will seek it out on the "Arena Rock" channel on digital cable. I am a little ashamed of the vague homophobia, and dire conviction that anyone who didn't listen to 97 rock was a tool (when the fact was I was probably the toolbox).
So you're still in the 4th grade? Recently crossed the river phase. "New Wave" phase Tejano phase Nerdy kid phase "serious" phase Yes, all of those during middle and high school. Right now it's the Clutchfans time-wastin' phase...
ha. funny. I'm a little bit of a tomboy, always will be, but 4th grade was extreme. other phases Nerdy & Random T shirt phase- I've got random lego, 3 star wars, star trek, periodic table, 2 NASAs, Legend of the hidden temple, and a bunch of other just random shirts left over from this phase definitely still in my Rockets apparel phase. Wearing a Rockets sweatshirt and shirt right now-not just because it's a game day, along with my Rockets necklace and backpack. I wear a Rockets shirt around 3-4 days a week. I have so many, I probably haven't repeated one to class this semester yet.
I went throught an Indian chick phase, went through it pretty damn well. In college I went through a drunk and morose phase, I've since dropped the latter.
Had a lip ring once. Purely to attract the right kind of ladies. It worked. Believe it or not it worked.
thermodynamically speaking, i'm usually pretty solid. however, last night, i went through a liquid phase which has now transformed into a gaseous state.
I've been thinking the same thing about myself. - All my life it's been blue jeans and t-shirts with a whole ton of band shirts or shorts and flip-flops and t-shirts with a whole ton of band shirts. - I always dress nicely when the event calls for it, whether simple, suit and tie, or tuxedo (I have my own). - I grew up on jazz, blues, classical, rock & roll, and heavy metal, and that's pretty much what I still listen to, whether it's new stuff or old stuff, rock concerts or operas. - I always wanted long hair, so when I found myself on a career path that allowed for it, I grew it out. I guess my mom might think of it as a 'phase,' but I see at it as looking how I want to look while I still have all my hair. The parachute pants thing, or maybe jean jackets, Girbauds, whatever isn't a 'phase'; that's just going with what's fashionable for the times. To me, 'going through a phase' relates to personality and interests, and I've never really understood it. I mean, how do you just stop liking something? I guess I get it in principle, but not so much in practice.
I had a phase from 7-10th grade (the years I played basketball) where I only wore t-shirts and basketball shorts/jeans. my mother looks back on these years with great sadness, and shudders when someone brings it up. I was the bane of her existence for awhile as a teen, I still remember her buying me the nicest clothes and cosmetics and I would never use them. now I kind of wish I had that nice stuff... I went through a phase during my freshman year of college during which I dyed my hair black, put bright red streaks in my bangs, and got my nose pierced. since then, i've only kept the black hair.
I'm going through the phase of listening to other people's phases while trying to describe my own phase while phasing out..
