Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. Like it or not, believe it or not Rice Daddy, we did win Sunday. AND we lost last night. Both are possible. One not as probable, it was the "Mother's Day Miracle," but it did happen. I saw it. And I saw last night. Reality is a b!tch! Welcome.
These are the types of threads that get posted after any and every loss. It's what's expected from our on again off again fan base. The way we need consistency from our Rockets I'm pretty sure they would love to have the same aspect from us. How lame.
Sigh. I expected many responses like this. Don't worry, it doesn't phase me. If we " took Game 4 ", we wouldn't have lost by 40 in Game 5. I seriously think we cared and we tried in Game 5. It's time to get out of denail, my friend. Let's all just hope the Lakers slack off again in Game 6 and hand us the game again.
We won because they weren't focused *and* we tried. But we can't win if they're focused. I love you guys. You're all such homers. Why don't you believe we'll never lose a game for the rest of the playoffs? The difference between fans like me and fans like you is that I hope and you guys want Santa Claus to exist.
Last response: Okay, just answer me this... Did we try last night in Game 5? If you believe we did and we still lost by 40, what does that tell you?
For the love of all that is good I really REALLY hope you're wrong. ... I think you're wrong, too. The Fakers have shown enough weakness this round for me to believe that the Cavs can and will knock them off. Who knows, maybe even Denver.
Yes, the Lakers were more focused yesterday, but it wasn't like they can just flip a switch and blow out teams by 40 when they're pissed off. We didn't play with the same intensity we had on Sunday, we missed SO many open shots. We had a crapload of stupid plays/turnovers in the first half that lost us all our momentum. And the Lakers wouldn't miss a damn thing... in part because of our crappy defense. I mean obviously the odds are stacked against us, but if you think the Lakers, even at their best, are THAT much better than us that last night is normal, you're out of your mind. I think the Rockets also got a little complacent because everyone was praising them so much for that victory. The whole nation was in love with them, and the Rockets thought they had proven themselves. They maybe even thought they got in the Lakers heads.
Yes we won game 4. If not, the playoffs for the Rox would be over. Game 6 is tomorrow and you never know what can happen. What if Kobe blows out his knee in the 1st quarter? I see where the OP is coming from, but for crying out loud, can't you just enjoy the wins and hate the losses?
Um, what if that NBA Team happens to depend on guys like Brian Cook, Von Wafer, Brent Barry and Chuck Hayes to carry a heavy load for them? I disagree that the Rockets didn't try yesterday. They tried their ass off, but the Lakers were simply too loaded to adjust to anything we threw at them. If we get blown out by around 40 tomorrow again, I was right. But that doesn't mean I hate the Rockets.
That's my point. I didn't say they're absolutely going to lose, but for us to win we are heavily dependent on the Lakers losing for us whether it's lack of intensity, over-confidence, or Kobe blowing out a knee. But effort itself isn't enough. We need to pray to Chuck Daly and receive that luck.
lol why dont you just post honestly Houston won because 1) Phil Jackson wasn't prepared for Adelman's small ball adjustments and didn't do anything while his team was taken by surprise... not even calling time outs or subbing in someone faster on Brooks 2) Houston shot the ball well and played with more intensity 3) Stern wanted Houston to win and the refs kept Chuck Hayes on the court 4) LA suffered a post-win letdown and didn't compete well when you play poorly it's partially you not playing well and partially the other team playing better than you. you "wishing" LA simply plays poorly is "wishing" your own team plays well if you understand ball you could see clearly what the differences between game 4 and game 5 were. a huge problem in game 5 was Jackson finally comprehending how to exploit the LA's size advantage inside (bynum had something like 6 of LA's first 8 points) and the refs taking out Chuck to open up the game defensively Houston didn't shoot badly just because they shot badly, Houston couldn't establish its defense and thus LA was able to play at tempo, which in turn didn't let Houston establish its offense which in turn led to turnovers and poor shots out of rhythm. If you're one of the geniuses who thought Houston was on "equal footing" with LA following the game 4 win then yeah it's time to pull out your hair and pray to Daly. if you know something about basketball and understand what happened in game 4 and game 5 you understand it's still a ballgame. Houston goes in with the same chance it went into game 4.... a small PUNCHER'S CHANCE to score a knockdown in any particular game
we were hitting jumpers in game 4 we WEREN'T hitting jumpers in game 5...a team with no center lives and dies by the jumpers end of story
we shot 32.6% from the field (29-89) we shot 17.2% from beyond the arc (5-29) we gave up 18 turnovers only 3 guys on our entire roster scored in the double-digits WE MISSED OPEN HOTS WITH GOOD LOOKS WHILE JACKING UP 3 POINTERS we lost (badly) but dont blame that solely on the fact of a big man problem i give the Lakers credit to. they capitilized on our terrible performance just like what we did in Game 4
well wen a team is hitting ever shot thrown up and like 6 players in double digits there isnt much u can do. they made some well defended shots. if artest really did quit on this team then we got no shot at goin 7 games or beating them. i hope he comes bak to form. he took a few games off last series too.
The word you are looking for is "faze." What if an NBA team happens to depend on guys like Sasha Vujacic, Derek Fisher, Andrew Bynum, and Luke Walton to carry a "load" for their team? For the record, these Lakers rotation players have carried a "load" of crap this series. The Lakers' role players have proven to be much worse than the Rockets' role players IMO. If your point is that Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol are better than Chuck Hayes and Von Wafer, well I guess you are right about that. What if the Lakers tried their asses off on Sunday but were too inept to adjust to what we threw at them? See? Its easy to play this game. I think Charles Barkley said it best: "You are never as good as your best game, and you are never as bad as your worst game." In the end, if the Rockets lose the series 4-2, it will mean exactly that. The Lakers are better than the Rockets, but it is a lot closer than everybody thinks.
Homecourt advantage. Do you think the Rockets would of lost by 40 if it was in Houston? Newppppppppppp. That's what happens when you have a young team on the road facing a hungry Lakers team who just got embarrassed in Houston.
