but we didn't turn Yao's insurence covered contract and Jefferies' expiring into anything. Les u cheap a$$
Come on, I said it's a good thing... I didn't blame Morey either. The question is whether you can trade small apples into a big apple. It has been done before. But remember this, all NBA Championship teams have had at least one home-grown superstar since as far back as I know, except for the 2004 Pistons.
I get what you're saying, and you know I'm with you on waiting too long to start the rebuild....but it's not entirely responsive to what he's saying. It certainly contributes to it, though. He's not merely frustrated with the return on the guys we did trade...he's saying that all we've been hearing about this roster is that it woud ultimately prove immensely tradeable, because it was so highly valued and there weren't any bad contracts in the bunch. So it's not merely what you got back for the guys you did trade...it's that there didn't seem to be much of a market or return for the guys you didn't, either. This roster clearly isn't working. Forget all stars...we didn't add a starter yesterday....and it doesn't appear to me we really added anything impactful in terms of draft picks...all being lottery protected and Memphis' not kicking in until, at the earliest, 2013. I'm not seeing any light at the end of the tunnel here. As Clutch said on the radio the other day: "we're stuck."
You know, if we had just concluded an era of immense success, I probably wouldn't be so bitter about all this. But we didn't. This franchise, on the heels of winning exactly 2 playoff series in 13 seasons (futility that only like 4 other franchises have matched since then) follows it up with, as you say, "no assets here...no assets anyone wants..." Dynamite.
At some point you have to take some risks. I think it's obvious to any objective Rockets' fan that the so-called "assets" that Morey has accumulated are not viewed as being worth much by the rest of the league. Please stop posting this kind of nonsense. If only the rest of the league valued the Rockets' players the same way as people like you...we would have Amare, Melo, and D Will by now.
a few of misconceptions among fans here. we need to know what real rules are 1) rox lacks of superstars whom rox must have to win anything. this is #1 priority. keep doing small tweaks won't turn the franchise around. 2) in math, 1+1 = 2 but in NBA, adding two good players won't equal a superstar. every gm knows the rule so they are not interested in our assets for their superstars. 3) cap space is also important for a franchise to turn around. no one on this board shows any interest in it. here ppl said again and again that trading expiring contract to get somthing is better than nothing. it's not true for a just good player. it's true for a superstar coz you can get alot returns. ppl forgot we also eliminate our cap space as well by trading our expiring contracts.
