Post Yao, our main targets the past 2 offseasons: Chris Bosh - Proven he is not a front line player Pau Gasol - Stern rejecting that trade was a blessing Nene - Total bust last year, oft injured, & overpaid Dwight Howard - Would have mortgaged everything for a 1 year rental. Andrew Bynum - Out indefinitely with knee problems Eric Gordon - Chronic knee problems, out minimum 4-6 weeks We were all distraught when we got none of the above. So now Morey gets Harden who nobody thought was available. When the talent in the NBA at the 2 is at an all time low, we got arguably the best up and coming 2 guard in the league who is only 23. As the saying goes "everything happens for a reason", it appears all the disappointment has led to the best possible outcome and our future is pointed straight up!
My only disagreement is the Bosh statement. The man was good for 25 and 10 each and every night as the main option, but now he has to take a back seat to Wade and Lebron. I think if we had Bosh in Houston as our main option, you would have seen similar numbers and production to his time in Toronto. The man is a stud, he just gets overlooked, kind of like Harden in OKC, because of 2 other superstar players on his roster. If we landed Bosh, then proceeded to team him up with Harden, that would be a killer lineup.
You can add Melo in their as well. He wouldn't fit in with two ball dominant guards in Lin and Harden.
Can we start calling James Harden....Manna? The Rockets were traversing the cruel desert of mediocrity and pow...James Harden!
can you imagine greg smith pouring some champagne on chris bosh! it would be a sexy scene. Like a couple have stated on this topic, I'm happy with harden than any of those. I mean Lakers people feel like dwight might walk that's how unstable that chick is. DM the GM must feel like this... <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/hoy_en_la_revolucion/7546061646/" title="rocky2 by *The last son of krypton*, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7261/7546061646_de4ed4e1ab.jpg" width="400" height="285" alt="rocky2"></a>
i would've taken him over everyone else except for maybe dwight and bynum. then again he's more durable and younger than both so its a tough call. either way we ended up with one of the best young all-star level players. he's going to have a career year! the challenge now is to duplicate this trade and bring in a second young star to pair with harden before he reaches his prime.
People on the Hornets boards seem to believe that he's forcing a trade. 6 Weeks = December 15 Gordon and Harden in the same backcourt sounds strong to me.
Any guy that is forcing a trade by playing hurt is a player you stay FAR FAR away from at all costs. Unless he accepts the vet minimum...
I still think Dwight would've stayed had we got him and that's a better position than we're in now, but don't want to get into that argument now.
Feels a little Monta Ellis-era Golden State Warriors to me. Fun to watch but doesn't win. Eric Gordon's biggest accomplishment to date was averaging 20 PPG given high usage on a very, very poor Clippers team where, as Charles Barkley has said, "somebody has to shoot the ball."
Luck rewards the prepared. Plain and simply that's what Morey and Co. did, they got ready, put themselves in the best direction they could, and took advantage of a great opportunity.
Nice thread. Morey tore it down and it looked to me like the Rockets were going to be rudderless for years to come. Then lightning struck and suddenly the Rockets find themselves with two three point threats who can drive into the lane. Pops offensive vision and Parker/Manu suddenly become a distinct possibility. Things are certainly looking up! Holes to fill: PF needs to be solidified. Max Cap needs to be used wisely. Parsons needs to develop some consistency with his 3 point shot. The bench needs to be fleshed out. Backup point guard is needed. At least now we know where the team is heading.
Stern rejecting the pau gasol trade was really a blessing. Kevin Martin was gunna go to lakers. if kevin was traded then we wouldnt have been able to trade for harden! we would have been stuck with an old pau
Taking a back seat is probably what Bosh wanted. Being in Toronto as the first going-to-guy seemed to be exhausting to him and he was unhappy all burden was on him. So no he is not a team leader by nature. I was never thrilled that Rockets went after him.
