Did Trump just suggest that 2nd Amendment gun owners should assassinate Clinton?

It was obviously a joke to me. Whoever called him a shock jock before was very accurate. It was a joke meant to create "ooh's" from the crowd. The guy likes to say shocking things. What's lame is that his people are trying to spin his words and his intent post-hoc. Just let Trump be Trump and enjoy the shock.

Serious question: at what point do these "jokes" become unfunny? His entire schtick is plausible deniability. He never said Megyn Kelly's vagina was bleeding, just her "somewhere"; he never said Judge Curiel was incapable of impartiality because he is Hispanic; he never said Hillary Clinton could be "assassinated"; he never said Ghazala Khan was bound by faith to silence.

But anybody with half a brain knows what Trump means every time this happens.

If you have to constantly clarify for your candidate with "He said ________, but he meant _______," the candidate is unfit for this office.

This is existentially shameful for our country.

This sure does remind me of a D&D resident here who never explicitly says racist or bigoted things, but sure does come across that way.

I don't think he's funny, but it's just clear to me that he's doing a bit. It's been a pretty consistent pattern of behavior. A lot of people love his persona.

Republicans have pandered to some of the worst parts of America. And to their surprise (insert feign shock here), it caught up to them and they got Trump.

And now Trump is exclusively pandering to the worst of the worst. I hope it doesn't catch up to all of us.

I heard the comment on PBS Newshour and certainly sounds nothing like what the title of this thread suggests. Instead what he implied is that the 2nd Amendment can prevent Hillary from "taking our guns".

    Another illiberal overreaction.

Are you so caught up in the 'my team vs your team' aspect that you are completely oblivious to the Trumpster fire?

You can't make a joke about assassinating your rival. There are too many idiots out there that hang on his every word. Hell, if a book can tell one crazy person to kill John Lennon, Trump could easily do the same.

No one needs to 'spin' his words - he does that just fine himself.

Trump could have just meant the NRA as a voting block and lobbying powerhouse.

But even so, a President representing 350 million people has to have a filter, Saying controversial crap is what makes reality TV compelling but it makes geopolitics dangerous as is obvious from this event. Not everyone hears the intent, most people filter the intent by personal bias and some people are just insane and will take threats literally.

The way this campaign has been run makes me believe he wants to capitalize on some Trump reality TV shows soon after.

Not the case for GOP leaders such as Ryan, McConnell, and McCain. They should remove their endorsement.

Even if that is what he intended or not, him as a presidential candidate shouldn't even walk that tightrope.

Dont think a lot of folks on this forum get this.

Trump has appealed to the anger that many Americans have with our government. From Lawmakers, judges and executive officers, our nation is moving towards a negative direction. The citizens understand and sense this, but elected officials dont or actively choose not to. There is a line in the Dark Knight when Alfred says: "And in their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand..."

This is Donald Trump. Many folks dont get him. While he has shown himself to be cavalier in his mentality...we really dont know what he can do in a political landscape. Among 17 Republican candidates...he is the one left standing. That takes some sort of skill...even from a mad man...

Hillary on the other hand faced a far less daunting task...And had the DNC rig the primaries to ensure she won...Trouncing on a candidate that was by far the most honest man running (Bernie). Even with such a clear advantage, she is such a crooked candidate. She represents everything that we the people dislike about a president. The very fact that if any other Republican candidate were running against Hillary, they'd be winning in a landslide...tells you everything you need to know about Hillary Clinton.

Why doesnt Bernie remove his endorsement from Hillary? She clearly was aided by a corrupt DNC??? Trump airs his trash for everyone to see...Hillary does so behind closed doors...The Wikileaks just provided a glimpse into a corrupt candidate...
