So I was smart to stay out of this thread and not even read it, until looking at this page? Apparently so. Do you seriously believe we are all little Stepford Children, Ronny? Running around like automatons, dancing to someone else's tune? That's disappointing. I've always felt I didn't fit into a little box. And don't be "offended" by my use of the well known flick in my choice of words. That's my favorite word to use today.

Does anyone else find Ronny's non-conformist, "think-outside-of-the-box" rhetoric to be a bit cliched and "sophomore-year-in-university"-esque?

How did I force him to do anything? Oh, that's right I didn't, he came up with the analogy. Obsolete??? That is funny that you think they are so obsolete because a quick YouTube and Google search proves otherwise. And yes, he did prove my point because even though those races don't use the terms so freely, the words still exist and are used.

You remind me of a large problem we have in this country and that is people not taking responsibility for their own actions. You want to do something or watch others do something and say well it is so and so's fault not theirs or mine. If you see black people using the word and use that as justification for you or anybody else using the word, well that's just dumb. I hear it often but guess what, I choose not to use it or say it. Yes, it's really that simple and guess what you have that same option and nobody is forcing you to make it either because it is YOUR choice.

Thanks and I won't stoop to your childish levels of name calling and insults.

More like Denis Leary chain-smoking on a tenement rooftop, right before the Edie Brickell video. Or coming in, and bringing Barry Foster and his 1,400 rushing yards with him.

I'm going to be real here, and hopefully won't offend anyone...

    WHO CARES, it's stupid...

I just got done working at a younglife camp in florida, young life is a christian ministry.. anyways the first two weeks we had like rich white areas come, the second two weeks, we had urban "multi cultural" schools come...

both of them completely fit the stereo types..

now im not saying all white people are prissy, whiney and annoying
and im not saying all black people are extremely prideful, violent, and vulgar.

but both lived up to the stereo types

if someone called me anything offensive, frankly i don't think i'd give a ****...

now if i called one of the black high school kids a N****R he would of started beating his chest like a damn barbarian...but the funny thing is you'd hear him say it over and over again in his conversations..

black people just need to lose the mentality of trying to be the baddest mother on the block.. or else they'll never learn how to live a professional lifestyle..it takes a man to force himself to not retaliate..

^ Or people might try not baiting someone by calling them a racial slur?

Is it that hard to understand?

I'm sure that Christian message would resonate with them quite well.

Actually, why not teach it just that way. Work truthfully rather than optimally.

The way it was explained to me is..

Slave owners used to own the word. Now black people own the word. They want to keep the word because it is a symbol of their victory over the slave-owners. The way you show that you own it is by being the person who uses it and the person who grants/denies permission for others to use it.

    Makes sense to me.

Why is there always such a fuss about wanting to use it? One observation I've made is that I never hear of (for example) Latinos or Arabs saying "why can't WE use the word??".

We did, the speaker was black for those two weeks, and he was like it's sad that we had to prepare and understand that working with "urban kids" is going to be different, and that ya'll fell through with those expectations..and that you live up to the stereotypes..and it's embarrassing to me as a black man, that all alot of ya'll care about is yourselves..

alot of lives were changed, it sounds harsh but it worked really well, kids really changed over the week..

Why does it matter, i feel like everyone pushes for equality, but then let a stupid word solely effect them...sometimes ethnicities segregate themselves from culture when it's unnecessary..the b**** was drunk...she got what she deserved...but if she deserved to be punched so did the guys yelling at her..

it's not that.. but i feel like why should one race be able to say it..

if you give a mouse a cookie.... in this case its a word..

if a blonde white boy says it in a hateful racist context...then yeah beat his ass..

if someone says its totally fair game to say it casually then it should be casual for everyone... THIS IS AMERICUH

Again, anybody who wants to say it can do so. There is no rule, law, regulation, etc. that is keeping you from doing so.
