There is one that Houston sports teams have perfected. There is one thing they all do exceedingly well, disappointing their fans.

Yeah, it's not like any other city disappoints their fans.

No kidding. Stupid Rockets can only win 2 titles in 12 years. And if only the Astros would win the World Series every year, then we could be like all the other cities in the country.

I still don't understand the pick. I think Williams will be an excellent addition to the defense, but I just don't see the stats in college to back up where he was selected. Yes, he has some amazing individual measurements regarding his physical abilities, but while excellent on the field, I don't see #1 stats. Young and Bush have equally amazing physical attributes, and did it on the field during their college careers, more so than Williams, IMO.

I wanted Young, and was finally starting to look forward to a Texans season. I'm an old, diehard Oilers fan, who went to their games with my Dad when they won the AFL championships, and followed them until my heart was broken, and I've never, yet, been able to get into the Texans. I think their name is awful, and it goes downhill from there. The prospect of getting Young had me excited, finally, about the team, and if Bush was the consolation prize, I was still excited.

Williams doesn't have me excited. I'll keep watching my home team from a "remove," without the avid interest I would have if things had turned out differently. It's a bummer, but the Rockets and Astros make up for a hell of a lot of angst. I understand that some of you, no doubt many of you, are rabid Texans fans, and I respect that. Please respect an old Olilers fan who's very, very disappointed. And I think it was about money, more than anything. Too damn bad.

I posted this Friday (prior to the draft)-

I would rate this draft by value like this-
    first tier (no Particular order)
    Vince Young, Mario Williams, Brick

    second tier
    Leinart, Bush, Hawk
If I was the Texans I would have my board looking like this-

    1. Vince Young
    2. Mario Williams
    3. Reggie Bush
    4. Brick

the only reason I would put Bush over Brick is Bush might turn out better than expected and I wouldn't pass over him for someone who doesn't have the impact of a pass rusher or QB.

    L:et me add this today-
Vince Young and Mario Williams will become impact players.
Bush will have some highlights but I don't think he will dominate.
Brick will be a very solid all pro tackle.

Wow, what a homer of an article.

Anyways, I think the most important things are wins. Screw VY and RB. They aren't on the Texans roster so they can have injury pron careers for all I care.

I'm not going to second guess the coaching staff in their choice. I still have hope in David Carr, and Davis is a proven running back.

Best example I can think of is the Rockets drafting Robert Horry of Harold Miner. The boos rained down in The Summit. Turns out Big Shot Bob is still playing while Harold Miner, well who cares.

    This is a great point.

And come on, that's an Austin-American Statesmen article.

Some people just cant help but drink the Kool-Aid...I dont think anybody can argue that Williams wont be a considerable improvement to our D, BUT it is impossible to believe that we couldn't have gotten him and an extra pick or two. Hell, we could have atleast called the Saints and offered them the first for there first and something. This just screams that the Texans are cheap and/or they do not understand how to maximize their few assets. Even if Williams turns out to be a pro-vowl end (and he had better end up being one of the best EVER) there is no way he impacts the team in the same way Bush or Young would have. We now have 3 first round picks playing, basically, the same position. That is inexcusable when you have a team that is as pathetic as the Texans were. God help us all if David Carr does not show why he was drafted #1 overall....Finally, a pox on your house Uprising. No sports fan with any sort of dignity would so flipantly talk about injuries to any player.

FUNNY?? I still get sick thinking about that.

Funny. We're still God-knows-how-many years away from seeing a SuperBowl for a Houston team, and you thought that was funny.

    Sick.

And they would have laughed in our faces. Why would they give us an extra pick just to move up 1 spot and pick a guy that they knew we weren't going to pick? They were content to take the guy we didn't pick no matter which one it was, and with good reason.

Huh? Are you talking about Mario and Travis? They don't play the same position. Who is the 3rd guy?

yea why new orleans want to move up 1 spot. They would have to lose some compensation plus u have to pay him #1 money.

he must be thinkin babin. also, i think kubiak is cleaning up the mess on that defense big time.

Saints have got their starting RB and are NOT that interested in Bush. Maybe we could gotten a lower round pick from NO by promising them we would take Bush. ;)

Please tell me that you are not using a Kirk Bohls editorial as a base for your argument against the draft pick. For those of you that don't know, Bohls might be the only editorialist in Texas worse than Richard Justice. This guy is a total dip****.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about Babin. Easy to do. Hopefully the new coaching staff will forget about him too...

That's the comparison I was thinking of.

The odds are either RB or VY have as much chance of being a bust, or mediocre at best, as MW does...

I'm betting on MW to be a stud DE for years to come... he's bigger, stronger and nearly as fast as Peppers out of the gate...

Look out Peyton, Byron, and Vince... look out.

Sad thing is Mario will have to be better than Bush, Vince and prob even Leinart.

    That's some serious uphill.

It will be interesting to watch, though. Certainly added a sense of drama and suspense to the NFL.

One player before the team. If you don't draft my player - I will stop being a Texans fan.

I hate - "The Texans have never done anything to make me be a fan...Oilers wah cry, Run and Shoot! cry wah, Tennessee! whine whine".

Please just leave then! Go to a Tennessee board and w**** it up man love style for Vince! Go watch a Saints game! ( lmao )

The Texans got better every year until last when it fell apart. The beat the Cowboys. The NFL is back in Houston. We have a great stadium and an owner who has the balls to take on Mattress Mac. Mattress Mac?? Being on his side of the argument dilutes it automatically right?

I wanted Bush, but I can see why they did what they did. I'm not going to even try to act like I know as much as they do. This could be such a great time to rally around the new staff, trust their direction and yell "I'm with you rain or shine, bring it on." No way. "But I've sat through 4 years of losing..whine cry whine..." (even though we continually got better and until last year, few where complaining) Well then don't sit through it any more - please leave! Go be a fan wherever your guy was drafted. Don't worry about making any excuses about why your doing it, you love your guy, so just go. Please. Go to the Titans messgeboard. Go to whatever the Saints have, just stop. For the love of God stop.

"I'm never going to watch the Astros again! Beltran is a once in a lifetime player! Did you see what he did in the playoffs!?! Drayton and his crap, cheap organization can go to hell, the Astros are going to pay for this decision for years to come!! whine cry whine... "

Looks like we can't agree - I told you to go to the Titans messageboard for the man-love.
