Pietrus was really underrated, I think they got worse. Sure, all the NBA2k11 guys will look at the team and go "OMG Arenas jrich HEdo DWGITH 4 championships!!!" but this is not a video game, they gave up a lot of defensive to add offense which never works, I like that they got rid of Rashard Lewis and VC but I don't think they traded them for the right pieces. I fear them a lot less now.
What do you mean "this is the Eastern conference"? The East has better centers than the West. Shaq, Noah, Horford, Bogut, Lopez, and Hibbert play in the East. Aside from Gasol, is there one good healthy center in the West right now?
No. You listed Clark as a C, and he's not an interior post player. You can try to justify the fact that you misspoke by pulling a projection from a draft analyst, but the fact of the matter is, he's a small forward.
you're just running jibberish with nothing to back it up. They don't need a post player considering how lethal their perimeter scoring is. You got look at the 2009 playoff run, they were going outside-in not inside-out. Dwight or no Dwight that team can score with the best of them.
I don't see how the new players help them beat Boston or LA so they are in the same place IMO. Both of those teams have frontlines that Howard can't dominate, and Turk/Nelson/Arenas/whoever really aren't any better than the Lakers or Celtics wings. I don't see who plays perimiter defense for them.
Yes, and they lost in the Finals when they finally matched up with a team that Howard couldn't dominate that also had perimiter scoring. They got their butts kicked the following season when they lost to the same type of team in Boston. This trade doesn't really help them beat either of those teams. Maybe Garnett will get hurt again so they can get back to the Finals. I don't see them going in 09 if he was healthy.
what about jameer nelson he wasn't healthy for Orlando either and they had Rafer Alston running the point Clearly Vince is a choker, he didn't belong their last year and thats what it basically came down to. You need a swing guy making plays on both ends, Turk can do that, Vince cant
They had a log at SG/SF before the trade though. They traded 3 SG/SF for 3 SG/SF and switched out the C for a PG.
Turk can play the 4 in Orlando. this is the Eastern conference he can get away with it They're looking into trading one of their backup PGs or Q-rich for a big man tho, lets see what they can do
Rashard and Carter aren't really that good of defenders. Pietrus was a good defender. What Magic need are versatile perimeter players to complement Dwight. They got that when they traded for Gilbert, J-Rich, and Turkoglu. They don't need that superstar perimeter player or ball-stopper.
This is pretty much: 1 bad contract (Lewis) for 2 bad contracts (Hedo, Arenas) 2 good backups (Gortat, Petrius) for 1 good starter (Richardson) Pick and cash for unloading Carter I'd say it's a lateral move, maybe a slight upgrade. Is Hedo better than Lewis? Arenas better than Carter?
In the East the only team with a deep frontline is Boston. They were not beating Boston before this deal was made. I think they got better. They got more playmakers which is something that team needed.
I think the team is a little bit more balanced now. Brandon Bass should be starting at the 4 spot and Hedo at the 3. This gives them size and potential mismatches. As for the backcourt, not really sure who's gonna be starting at the 1 and 2. My guess is Nelson will eventually be coming off the bench with Gilbert and J-Rich starting. Defensively imo, this team will struggle because they have no stoppers on the wing and if Dwight gets in foul trouble who's going to back him up? There is no other center on the roster besides Daniel Orton and he hasn't played a single game yet...
I don't know if it will or not,but I don't think they will be able to surpass a disciplined team eg the Celtics. Even if they do,they will be beaten in the NBA Finals IMO.None of the players that they have acquired play much defense. A shake-up was nevertheless necessary.
Perimeter defense is overrated. When you got a guy like Dwight in the paint that already improves your perimeter defense.
