I notice your aggresive, better than thou, way of writing on numerous threads. Who has made you the King of the BBS? Who told you that you were the NBA guru? If you disagree than disagree but your style is insulting.
Why are people babying Francis? When he signed his max contract extension he said that it is time for him to be a leader, and he was right. As a leader, you will take your fair share of criticism, justified or not. DaD has every reason to b!tch about Francis. Francis has yet to shown much leadership. Until he proves me or DaD wrong, Francis will be always be an easy target of criticism. Francis is no different than a Stephon Marbury. Talented player, who is much maligned because of intangibles, or the lackthereof. It's about time Francis puts his money where his mouth is, and until he does that, you should expect a target to be on his back.
I just realized I've gone from being 100% opposed to Steve switching positions to 90% sure he should. With everything everyone's saying about Steve pretty much dominating the ball regardless of position, I'd much rather have a stable PG, that gets his from the defense not respecting him, can defend a lot of 2's, and is creative getting the ball to Yao Ming. The way Moochie ran the show yesterday, it really made me wonder. Imagine a better version of last night's Moochie, being the stabalizing presence in the backcourt. What really changed my mind about Steve's backcourt mate is that Steve himself said he'd love to play the 2, and a big reason I was opposed to it was because I thought HE'd be opposed to it.
Okay...it seems like he wants to be a 2. And Moochie was just fantastic. He was like a pure point guard. He was passing and shooting. It was actually beautiful. Francis could play better at the 2...but how can he defend the bigger guards? Do we put Posey on the big 2's? And what happens to Mobley? We could get like an Eric Snow or someone bigger...
Hmmm, I am pretty sure A-Train was just being his sarcastic self. I mean who is going to take someone who predicted that Rox would only scored 5 points last night seriously..........
Sounds like he meant that he hopes the Rockets can keep playing that way all the time, but is not sure if they can. I too hope he doesn't mean it's a decision on his part to play that way some games, and others not. Like if he's saying, "I love the ISO too much to share the ball ALL THE TIME!" I hope that's not what he means.
Yes, you're right. Unjustified criticism will happen (much like this thread, which is based on the contortion of one of Steve's quotes). But with all the justifiable reasons to be critical of Steve (that are repeated over and over again), it starts getting ridiculous when people actually begin creating new reasons to bash him. I mean, just because....ah, screw it...you wouldn't understand.
On the subject of the original post.... defense can pressure the passing lanes. I don't know if Francis was saying that it isn't always possible because of this, or some other reason, but there is a reason that passing might not always work.
I don't think that's what Stevie meant. I think he meant that sometimes teammates are open and they can get the ball passed around for an open shot. But sometimes our opponents push a zone more and are playing the passing lanes, making it much more difficult to get the ball to the open man. -- droxford
Wow Sane...that's news to me!! Not that I don't believe you but can you provide the link where he said this. If he said this, I'll have a new found respect for Mr. Franchise. It takes a big man to admit that he's wrong
More importantly, The best part of the article: Now that is a great philosphy we should embrace (as we did in the Phoenix game). -- droxford
If I'm not mistaken, that only applys to this years all star game. What happened was Francis went to talk to Adelman after the Kings game. Basically he said that he was really disappointed in his performance at last years ASG, he wanted to play more this year. Oh, he said he didn't mind to play 2.
