Yeah, the 2 pg line-up hasn't been as successful as once thought. Good thing Dragic is leaving in the summer so we won't have to have this headache anymore.
He might, I think one of them will be leaving, and since Lowry is the best trade asset and is not as good as Dragic, he should probably be the one that is packaged for an upgrade. It will be interesting to see how Morey handles it. There is a clear choice, if he blows it, the team continues to wallow in mediocrity. DD
In regards to lee, I think he's a quality starter in the league. When I say 36 mins, again, its a feel thing. We've seen him play ok recently and play better at the end because he got the minutes. No one has said lee is instant offense, but he can guard 2's better than lowry, dragic, and martin. They were in a groove and the last 2 games they haven't been. Its not lowry's fault, but those guys for the last 20 games or so got used to playing the lineup and sub patterns they had. If this was early season of 82 games, that's one thing, but its not. This is the stretch run of every important game to get into playoffs which is the goal. Btw this team always play better with less players in rotation. That has ben proven since morey has constructed the team were most guys are equal in talent.
Facts are: Lowry got 41 minutes in two wins on the road, and 46 minutes in these two losses. y'all are making too big of a deal about 2.5 more mpg in the losses. As WinkFan said, "it is who were are." We apparently play in streaks. Lowry can win 7 games in a row as starter (and heavy use of 2 PG offense), and Dragic has 4 big road wins in a row. But then we have two setback games, so it is time to place blame, which is really just posters jumping on an opportunity to say "I told you so." Another fact: in our 7 game winning streak, Lowry played nearly 40mpg and Dragic played 20mpg. That's 12 mpg of 2 PG offense. quit making baseless arguments.
Another fact: Rockets record when Goran is starter is 11-10. Lowry is 21-17 as starter. I don't really care who starts and I probably would choose to keep Goran over Lowry if I had to make a choice (or maybe not), but the W-Ls with Goran as starter is still a mediocre Rockets team.
You are making the argument about the "groove" and substitution pattern. That's fine, except if the groove was really affected then the first two games that Lowry was back in (Kings and Blazers), the team should have been demonstrating the same weakness we showed the last two games. That is, missing millions of open shots. The Rockets' major deficit last game occurred in the third quarter, where the starting line up is exactly the same as before Lowry's return. Also, in the game against Jazz, the team made a comeback only after Lowry came in for Lee. If the lineup really was the problem then Lowry subbing in for Lee should have made our deficit even worse. I honestly can't find a correlation between Lowry returning and the team missing open shots. I could understand if the offense was falling apart and we ran nothing but isolation plays when Lowry is in the line up, but I don't see how Lowry's presence makes Lee miss open shots and lay ups.
Stop making sense. The other thing about the Jazz loss was the horrible interior defense and help defense. They got way too many easy baskets on multiple passes -- a complete breakdown of team defense.
The discussion is "did rockets lose mojo 'cuz of Lowry's return?". I don't know what you are discussing but I'm discussing the topic.
your "fact" is very very poor... U can't compare win/loss record when Goran was starter or when Lowry was... We talk abaut this a lot in other thread's... When Lowry was starter he has backup Goran... But when Goran was starter, Lowry was injured, so he was the only PG on the team ( if u dont count veteran boykings), so u see... ur "fact" is just nonsense...
When Kyle was the starter Dalembert was too and his only backup was softie pie Jordan Hill. Courtney Lee has also been better than K Mart. It goes both ways.
Can't believe you took the bait. That's the *whole* point that makes this thread completely wrong. Proof shows we need both to play. They are our two best players. And we are best when they combine for 60mpg and 12mpg of 2 PGs. They have already proven they play well together on the court. It's not like they are starting together. Brooks and Lowry did great on the court together; Dragic and Lowry have. Conley and Lowry also played well together. Lowry is proven to be able to play with other PGs. The is merely the "who to keep vs trade" argument spilling over into another thread, disguised as they can't play together, which is proven hogwash. Thanks for serving up the softball to me.
And if GD says NO to staying or NO to an SnT then it's ALL on DM the GM? I love Lowry but I am hoping for a new deal with The Dragon and a great deal for KLow bringing in a stud. If it can be pulled off I believe DM the GM is the Big Deal!
No, the point was the same, you guys are just missing it. The fact is that Lowry and Dragic both need the ball and to be the main guy with the ball for each one to be at their peak. When they are both on the floor, it takes a bit away from each of their games, they don't get the ball as much, they don't get in rythmn, there is confusion as to whom brings it up, and there is one less catch and shoot person on the floor to pass the ball too. It can work in very short spurts, but it hurts both of them and by proxy the overall team when they are both playing at the same time. The Rockets are BETTER when only one is on the floor with others, and everyone else falls in line as roles are defined. PERIOD ! DD
If Morey offers as much as everyone else, plus max raises, and another year guaranteed, and Dragon leaves, that is all he can do. If it were me, I would package Lowry with Kmart and or Scola and move up in the draft, and sign Dragic for the max number of years and turn the team over to him. DD
that's just a theory I don't subscribe to, because it assumes the team is worse when they are both on the court. It's merely a theory with no W-L proof of this season backing it up. We did great with both combining for 60 mpg and 12 mpg together. They are our two best players. Are you talking "peak statistics" or "peak ability to create wins." You have no proof of the later. 10-12mpg of both on the court should not hamper anyone. Lowry had no problem playing with Brook, Conley or Dragic. It has proven to be effective, and it will again. Dragic should not be adversely affected by that. If Parker has no problem through the years letting Ginobili control the offense at times, neither should Lowry. And if Gino can control the game at will with Parker on the court, so should Dragic. His rhythm should not be affected by who is on the court. A star should create rhythm at will, you know that. Dragic has about 6-8 minutes to start the game to settle in without another PG. Quit making excuses for him. He doesn't need any. He's doing great. don't jinx him then blame it on McHale and Lowry.
