The payments are pretty high for this loan.

That's absolutely incorrect. Why would you type something like this if you didn't know what you're talking about?

Houston basically had to pay a transfer fee since he was under contract in the CBA. Who exactly are you under the impression "owns" Yao" that could loan Yao to us? Yao now owns the team that he used to play for in the CBA.

Dunno about his injuries. Couple of them were freak injuries so if he had been sitting on the bench during those moments he ended up banging his knee on someone or having his foot stepped on he would have prevented them. Couple of the injuries were wear and tear. But mainly over the course of the NBA season. Maybe he could have made it to the playoffs in that case those years and then been injured? Probably no.

You guys should be asking if playing in China r****ded his growth as a basketball player though. Hakeem and Shaq added many weapons to their game over the summers while Yao's growth has been r****ded or regressing after his first 3-4 years in the league. Maybe Yao could deal with fronting better or could finish with contact better if he'd had his summers.

National pride, responsibilities, central figure, blah blah blah...

Give up the $20m a year you make with the Rockets and go do whatever the hell you want. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Actually in Yao's case, he's done just that, and it's cost the Rockets from being contenders.

For the one asking where the Rockets would be without Yao now? Are you kidding me? He's helped us get out of ONE ROUND IN HIS CAREER. Great accomplishment there big fella. Thanks for all the hard work. We'd be in the same spot considering we haven't been able to depend on him the last 5 freakin years.

Those 481 games in the NBA are being PAID FOR. The 41 games in China ARE NOT. Don't act like Yao is doing the Rockets a favor by playing for them. They are his freakin employer! The Chinese games are his choice, and damn right they've caused more injuries for him, because he doesn't get the rest in the off-season.

Like I said, if the China games were so important, give up your $20 mil with the Rockets and go play for them full time. Unfortunately, he's a marketing figure and gets Les a bunch of money from the international market, hence raising the Rockets' value. He will probably be signed for the max again once his contract is up... You can understand from a business point of view, but it sucks ass for a fan that wants to see his team win, and has to rely on a player who's priorities are clearly elsewhere.

Obviously. But people somehow manage to find a way to complicate the question.

Hmm, despite discussing this HUNDREDS of times before, we haven't come to a conclusion - but not to worry! This thread comes to the rescue in search of a definitive answer!

This thread got a one star rating because Rockets fans are afraid of hearing the truth.

if there's no clause on the contract says Yao can't play basketball during the off season, then there's no reason we could ask Yao not to play. It's up to him.

Just hope the big guy is healthy and Rockets get further in the playoffs this year.
