I believe the rotations are a product of Stone's meddling. On Challenges, you only get one per game. You have to use them at the right times. Silas challenge results have been at least league average (~74%), I can't find the actual numbers. No, he's not that animated guy who's going to get a lot of techs .... that's just not his character and it doesn't bother me at all. Tech's just cost your team possessions and points. I'd rather these young guys stay level headed, much like their coach and that answers the next question ... yes, I think his calm demeanor is ideal for a bunch of volatile youngsters. Someone has to keep their head on straight ... It's not often that losing one's cool is generates the desired results. The person who's benefited most is probably KPJ. He's matured quite a bit .... It's easy to look at the record and say he's bad .... but when you dig into the offensive stats, he's got a team of 20 year old kids taking great shots. It's no coincidence that when Jabari started shooting well, they started winning games. Getting a top 4 shot profile out of this roster is no small feat and they've been top 3-5 all season long.
Maybe you’re right and he’ll get one more chance, but should be on the Hotseat from game 1. I just prefer more animated fiery coaches. He should also have drawn the line if he was being forced to play guys like Nix/Mathews. If he somehow sticks and leads this young group to the playoffs I’ll be first to admit I’m wrong.
Today's game is different. There are very few dominant centers; Embiid and Jokic? That's it. Playing through traditional centers, slows the game down, creates less driving lanes and 3pt opportunities. This is why coaches want players to take a 3pt shot if you're open. And that's what I'm saying about Sengun.
Exactly, slowing the game down meant players had to be skilled, not just athletic. and it didn't create less 3 pt opportunities because once a center is down low and double team it opened it up. You may be confusing players shooting 5 feet beyond the 3-pt line as open. The league changed the rules to add more entertainment value, which takes away from the overall skill of the game. Now anyone can score 30 ppg, shooting 30 times and nobody bats an eye. Dude be 9-29 with 8 3s and and 35 points and people be like, "Damn did you see where he made that from!" There's a reason why foreign players are top centers in the league as every other 7 footer learned to shoot fade-a-way 3s from the age of 10. This tiktok style of play is horrible. It's almost as if they don't get 'likes' on a shot then what's the point in shooting it.
