A guy leaving a team that gave him a chance to shine only to go back to the team that originally didn't want him because of financial reasons....

I wonder if any one else this summer has done that.....

teams under lux tax won't bail then out due to potential cash, teams over lux tax can't bail them out. Not 100% sure

You mean the team that was also going to cut him but because of a fluke chance of luck he was able to show how good he is? Also the same team that got rid of the coach that gave him the opportunity in the first place?

You have to wonder if Morey plans on upping the offer for Asik depending of the outcome of the Lin situation. Why else would he wait to send the contract to the Bulls?

I don't think we keep Lin beyond the first or second year and that's why Morey threw in that ridiculous third year. Just don't ask me how he's going to trade that contract though beyond that second year though.

Its $8M per year for all 3 years for us.

It would be 5/5/15 for the Knicks.

Kyle Lowry would have been making $6.2 mil in 2013-2014, and probably would have earned a new contract higher then that per year.

Jeremy Lin will be $8mil on the salary cap for all 3 of his years. D Morey probably sees higher potential in Lin from what he has showed in the past. The $15million is not really a big deal because of what he brings. We would finally get national media games/coverage, he could possibly be an all-star this year with all the votes he gets, he sells tickets and jerseys.

When you look at it this way, its a medium-high risk/high reward situation for us, mainly because of the $8mil cap hit. For the Knicks, its a much much bigger risk, as they would be paying close to $25million for the PG with the luxury tax, and he would take up $15mil of the cap.

Is 8 million a year for a quality point guard over paying?

The dynamics for Houston are much different than for New York because of the salary cap. Lin has proven he can be a quality point guard but can he keep it up? I don't know but I think it's worth the risk for Houston perticularly if the Rockets are fortunate enough to land Dwight.

If Jeremy Lin plays as well as he did last season then 8 million a year is not over paying. If he plays 3/4 as well as he did last year then 8 million is not over paying.

The Knicks will pay more in luxury tax fines associated with Jeremy Lins salary in the 3rd year alone than what the Rockets would pay him across the life of the contract. So why the roll eyes after your comment? Are you that upset that Linsanity might be leaving New York?

as a few other posters have pointed out...Lowry would have been up for a sizable raise once his contract was complete...Lin at 8m a year for 3 is not a terrible deal...lil pricey...but Les and Morey are smart...Lin brings tremendous financial resources to Houston (just like Yao did)...And considering that the Rockets have a new TV deal in place...The Asian market are actually going to pay the Rockets much more...just to have games that feature Lin...

The attention would skyrocket if Dwight came to Houston...

Bottom "Lin"...Lin was paid, but dont think the Rockets wont financially come out on top in the long run...

The shenanigans they pulled on Friday were more about Lin's cap hold to make the move for Felton than they were as an imature ploy to pout about Lin's contract with Houston.

After the McGrady deal, you would think that NY would have been done dealing with Houston until just a week ago they give Morey a bounty of assets just for dealing Camby, a 38 year old player they weren't bringing back, to the Knicks in a S&T.

If the Rockets have something the Knicks want, they will continue to deal with Morey.

You never know, they might be thanking Morey for giving them an excuse to not bring back Lin anyways. There are alot of people twisting their arm to bring back Lin at any cost for reasons that are off the court. Its possible that Woodson, and their GM are secretly thanking Morey for giving them an excuse to go in a different direction on the basketball court with players that fit better around Melo and Amare.
