You might remember that this team has two rookie draft picks on the roster (Morris, Parsons), will likely get Motiejunas back from Europe next year, and also has Patterson in his 2nd season. As such, I'm pretty sure adding more youth is not a huge concern. Also, the draft may be good, but chances are the pick won't turn out to be anyone near Gasol's level.
That's what I've seen, which is also Top-5 protected I believe. The Knicks picked up Chandler and have a full season of Melo and Amare. That pick isn't going to be all that great

Let's be honest here. The Knicks are a playoff team especially if they acquire Chandler. Melo, Amare, Fields, Chandler (and maybe Billups if he somehow remains) are going to win a lot more than 40 games.

No, the story says in addition to Gasol the Rockets also get draft picks in the deal Which means we might get some picks for real( which would make me feel better)

Stern squeezes a 2012 draft pick out of Morey, and gets him to say yes. He runs back to Kupchack and says none of this works unless you take this overpaid Okafor off of our books. Kupchack: Damn, the fans in LA are really excited. OK, deal. For an expiring CP3 the Hornets receive: Kevin Martin Luis Scola Lamar Odom 2012 first round picks +They get to unload Okafor, part of the price LA must pay to get CP3. Stern is a Genius.
