I'm honestly not sure if this is supposed to be clever word play, but yes that advanced stat is garbage.
Ariza has declined, yes. But if you actually believe he's a bad defender now, you're ignorant. Look no further than the teams he's been on. There is no good statistical measure of defense. Nor are there solid defensive metrics. Steals/ deflections are an initial indicator, as is defensive rebounding. But that's all they are. You have to watch guys play defense to know who is a good defender and who isn't, especially on bad teams where most guys are no longer trying defensively. We do miss Ariza/Luc. And it will show in the playoffs that we did not replace their defensive impact. Unless.....Morey pulls a rabbit out of the hat with the last roster spot.
I agree. Morey isn’t perfect, but at least he doesn’t double-down on a bad move. He usually corrects problems fast.
