Did morey make the right move now? (Hindsight)

    I'm honestly not sure if this is supposed to be clever word play, but yes that advanced stat is garbage.

    Ariza has declined, yes. But if you actually believe he's a bad defender now, you're ignorant. Look no further than the teams he's been on.

    There is no good statistical measure of defense. Nor are there solid defensive metrics. Steals/ deflections are an initial indicator, as is defensive rebounding. But that's all they are. You have to watch guys play defense to know who is a good defender and who isn't, especially on bad teams where most guys are no longer trying defensively.

    We do miss Ariza/Luc. And it will show in the playoffs that we did not replace their defensive impact. Unless.....Morey pulls a rabbit out of the hat with the last roster spot.

    I agree. Morey isn’t perfect, but at least he doesn’t double-down on a bad move. He usually corrects problems fast.
