I just hope our society gets more exposure and understanding of being respectful. There is a factual connection of the setting of the "joke" with the factual whereabouts of the 14 year old girl being the daughter. This is undisputable. The fact is it does not depend on someone being knocked up previously to be knocked up. This is undisputable as well. Therefore with consideration of the factual setting based on the joke and how it pertained to the un-named daughter's actual shared setting of the joke in question, it is clear and reasonable to understand that this was aimed towards the 14 year old girl. Face it FB, sexism like racism is wrong even when it's just a "joke"
But it only works because she is a woman, in the same way racist jokes only work because of the target's race.
Exactly...we seemingly have a culture of selective racism or selective sexism. Just imagine if Letterman stated Palin wanted to come to New York to learn how to dress like a stinky nappy headed Aunt Jamima from the subway he was on... He could have gone 2 for 1!!!! Mmmm pancakes.
True, I added my opinion which is what this forum is all about. However, I didn't start it. Now, as for Palin, I think she addressed the most outrageous and noteworthy point of attack. Letterman's first apology wasn't very sincere, so I can't fault her for continuing her counter-attack. However, Letterman's second apology -- IMO -- was more convincing. Apparently it was for Palin as well so she acknowledged it, accepted it and has moved on. Perhaps we should as well.
It wasn't a location joke. It was a circumstantial joke. If the joke is about the girl being pregnant, and it is supposed to make sense, then yes the girl would have to have been knocked up before. A joke about the inclination of a person to be pregnant would depend on that behavior having been exhibited before. In this case the behavior was exhibited before so the joke made sense. If you don't get it, that's fine. I can see that. But please don't try and throw random nonsensical ideas onto the joke. Your inability to not get the joke and buy into Palin's political grandstanding doesn't really help the fight against sexism.
love this thread wingnuts are vicously attacking letterman as if he's the Rush Limbaaugh of the democrats and stop it with the 14 year-old talk.. you're starting to creep us all out..
What? No, He seemed to be concerned about the 14 year old rightfully so. God bless her. Chuck should stand up for her after what she has been through. Maybe one day she will receive better than being affected by an ignorant joke...
How was it NOT location when the daughter that was with Palin at the ballpark was the 14 year old? I am not going to get a "sexist" joke...Sexism is not acceptable. Racism is not acceptable. That is what I believe.
