which joke is sexism. joking about sex isn't sexism. i can see how you can relate the slutty flight attendent joke to sexism because it demeans sarah in a sense. but people are just throwing out sexism, when sexism is saying a woman is less valuable than a man for whatever reason. sexism is also saying women's only purpose here are to serve men imo.
I just hope our society gets more exposure and understanding of humor. There is no factual connection to the 14 year old. The only one who made the connection was Sarah Palin in order to make it more of a story. The fact is that 18 year old Bristol was the only one who was pregnant. That is the most relevant fact.
It also is about saying a girl is a slut. For instance it would take a real slut to have unprotected sex with a popular baseball player during a game.
You're the one who stirred up all this nonsense here in the first place. I'd love to hear your explanation for why Palin didn't have anything at all to say about every other late night comic making similar (or way worse) jokes before, as listed in the top ten list at the end of the previous page.

I thought it was obvious that it is not commonw behavior to have sex with a baseball player during the game. Your argument is that is not slutty behavior? No against social norms? What is your definition of a slut?
The thing is true that this activity has built up and has festered to a point it can not be overlooked...Sexism ends today! We have done wrong in the past i.e. slavery, gitmo, rights, DMB,...The article has pointed that out. (thanks BJ) We need to have another of those wait-a minute-that's not-right moments regarding our culture to become better people. We all should have spoke out earlier Palin included... I am sorry that Rush used ugly sexist references to Chelsea. several years ago. Now that I'm a father I feel strongly about it, as a kid I didn't care especially since I leaned far right (supposedly).. We are humans, we make mistakes...Even Obama himself. But we are also suppose to learn with information and to makes changes based on the information. We have to do better.
Good for you. In the same way Imus got nailed for calling girls a hoes, it is also wrong to infer a girl has sex that is WAY outside of social norms when there is no proof or indication she does.
IMUS called those girls nappy headed hoes, totally different situation. if dave called palin's daughter a nappy headed hoe, he would recieve the same ridicule
The fact is that it wasn't supposed to be real. That was the joke. The joke was that it took one kernel of truth(Bristol had unprotected sex and got pregnant) and exaggerated it in an attempt at humor. It wasn't supposed to be something she would really do.
Sexism will only be a real issue once gay and lesbian rights and abortion get less hot politically. Women's groups are focus on these right now and have infighting (among the groups not within groups)
The problem is that racial stereotypes try and apply a kernel from one person to the whole race. There was no attempt to say that all women would be impregnated during the baseball game. That joke was about one person, and one person only. It isn't a stereotype about a whole sex.
