It's one thing if her daughter led a private life, but when she becomes the spokegirl for how great it is to be a teen that gets knocked up - i think she's fair game. HOw is this different than making fun of miley or britney, or any other teen including boys? I thought the joke was stupid and classless, but I am not a fan of Letterman's anyway. But did he go to far? Nope. Not by a long shot.
I don't think he caved. Letterman is a class act. He never told jokes about OJ. He never tells jokes about sex and kids. I think he genuinely felt bad that it was perceived in the wrong light... He did not do it out of pressure from anyone but himself.
