Put Harden on the Spurs and Popovich will mold the style of play of the Spurs in an entirely different way. Put Popovich on the Rockets and our team gets better. He's just a mastermind.
I think D'Antoni is doing a heck of a job maximizing this roster's potential. I don't think that Popovich would do much better than Rockets' current record.
Westbrook will and was going to win MVP anyway but there is an interesting take away from last nights game. Harden's inability to impact the game defensively is definitely what gives the impression that he is just a notch below players like Lebron and Kawhi. If last night's game was the first time you watched Harden and Kawhi play and today your were asked to choose one to start your team which one would you choose?
I take Kawhi even if I am following Harden closely. Harden is a great player, but I think Kawhi is the best player in the world right now.
This was on Harden. You can't throw the ball away 3 times in a row against the Spurs. Those turnovers were atrocious. I don't care how many triple doubles you have. Harden's turnovers will be what hold this team back from being in the elite category
Outside of Kawhi, the Spurs aren't that talented really, and the talent they do have is old. They're not nearly as talented as the Warriors or Cavs. It's mostly Kawhi & Pop that got them to 49-13 record this year. They've overachieved.
Put Kawhi on the rockets in place of Harden and our team gets worse. People get so enamored with highlights. People love to talk about how valuable defense is while totally dismissing the incredible value of playmaking and facilitating. Kawhi is fantastic but not Harden fantastic albeit close.
Difference is Kahwi doesn't talk about and just goes out and does his job, Harden embraces it, wants to win it badly and might even play for stats sometimes just to stay in the MVP race with mainly WB (media narrative). Giving it to Kahwi is totally warranted and I would have no beef with that. If Westbrook wins it at 5-7 seed, I would definitely think both of these guys got screwed. Lebron whined himself out of the convo.
He wouldn't be as good as he is today if Houston picked him. He might still be an All-Star, but nowhere near this superstar level he's showing today.
Ohhkaaaaay..... Aldridge - all-star Gasol - former all Star solid vet Manu - former all Star solid vet Parker - former all star solid vet Green - 3nD player better than ariza West - former borderline all-star and solid vet Demon - solid rotation big Patty - solid rotation guard Simmons - rotation player Anderson - rotation player Calm down killuh your bad views are bad and always have been.
After watching last night, I would have to say Kawhi is the MVP, dude put on a monster show last night. Don't get me wrong, James put on one early, but it's how you finish not start! Eric Gordon missed some easy wide open 3s and Clint was seriously tired. I liked how we played we just didn't pull it out. I also didn't understand why the Rockets didn't double team Kawhi and make somebody else hit a shot. Nobody else besides Kawhi and Aldridge hit shots in the 4th qtr. I can't let your best player beat me, somebody else has to hit a shot, if they do then I can accept that. Trevor leaving Nene against Kawhi, not good Trevor, not good!
