He has started the season pretty bad, but what does his performance in the first 3 games of this season have to do with an award given out on the basis of what players did last season?

If Harden would have won MVP last year he would have been more than deserving based on what he did LAST season.

he publicly stated that he should have won the MVP and that he was the best player in the league.

he is not doing a very good job of supporting his case.

Well then if you would have said "best player in the league?" along with your screaming A gif it would have made sense. He's definitely not supporting his case for that so far.

But what he has done these first 3 games has nothing to do with his belief that he should have been MVP last season. The results of the last regular season and the circumstances around them are the only evidence that are taken into consideration for MVP of last season.

jordnnnn, you're right. last year's mvp is based on last year's performance only.

i'm just saying that the mvp race last year was such a heated race and a lot of people were not happy with the outcome (lots of rockets fans, understandably so). we as fans expected that mvp race to spill over into this season and we were hoping harden would come out on top this time. well now we know that will NOT happen.

    :(

He's just in a slump for whatever reasons. As soon as someone sets his arse straight the
Real James Harden will return. Or maybe we're just aiming for the 8th seed to get that rematch vs the Warriors??

Support James Harden. The dude has been everything Houston asked for. Its called growing pains with the new guys and we're still playing injured.

If people think he is in 'just a slump' then they don't watch Harden regularly. He looks sluggish overall. His foot speed is 3/4ths of where it was last season. I think this has a large part to do with him not having a full team USA training camp and tournament under coach K which forced him to stay at tip top shape.

MVP was for last season... these games are irrelevant to that discussion.
