    Train Crash story:

Driver Dies After Crashing Into Moving Train

HOUSTON -- A driver died after he crashed into a moving train early Friday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston police said a sport utility vehicle slammed into the side of a train on Lawndale Street near Collier Street at about 1:30 a.m.

Investigators said the driver ignored the flashing lights and gates that were blocking traffic from the train.

The vehicle burst into flames, trapping the driver inside. The intense heat burned the body beyond recognition.

The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the driver's identity and cause of death.

Police said the vehicle's license plate was melted. An officer found a piece of bumper that may have belonged on the vehicle, officials said. The bumper indicated the vehicle was a Nissan.

Officials said the train had been moving at about 10 mph. It did not sustain significant damage.

Crews replaced the crossing arms and reopened the road to traffic at about 7 a.m.

The local radio news station 740 KTRH has a headline at the top - no story. But they identify him as the man from Friday's accident.

It hurts me that this would happen to anybody.

Much less,Eddie Griffin....he really led a tortured life.People can say he had noone to blame but himself, but I truly see this as a great tragedy.

Eddie obviously had emotional problems that kept him from realizing his potential in life and basketball.

Everyone has a story...problems to deal with, adversity.Overcoming those obstacles can make the world one's oyster. But make no mistake, losing that war will killl you.....Don't ever give up and keep that boat headed downstream with the current.

I was so happy when we made the 3 for 1 deal and reeled him in.I remember sitting over at JBC's house and high fiving after that deal...What a sad ending.
