I was always under the impression that a day to God was much more than a day as we see it. A "thousand years" meant a complete time, start to finish, not a literal thousand years.

I never knew of anyone who thought the earth was only several thousand years old, at least it was never a subject in my life.

As a side note, take the book of revelation, which is an interpreted dream about the future, or end of the world. The writer of that time never knew a bomb, a plane, or any of our modern warfare. A jet may be interpreted as a dragon, or beast. A nuclear explosion may be described as tongues burning from their mouths, etc.

    Interesting.

^^ I'm not sure if you could interpret the storm of locusts as anything but locusts :p when I read revelations, I have to say, if that's really going to happen then I'm scared *****less, but it's only a dream.....plus in thew new testament, when they are talking about fulfilling prophecies, half the time when they quoted the verses I couldn't follow from the prophecy to what was going on at the time.
