Did David Stern cost us Jeremy Lin?

If the Pau Gasol trade had not been cut off by David Stern, we would have sent Dragic to New Orleans. We likely would have kept 3 point guards on the roster, meaning that Lin would have stuck along with Flynn and Lowry. With how bad Flynn is, Lin certainly would have gotten some run, and we would have found out what we had before we no longer had him! David Stern strikes again!

    What might have been ...

    PG - Lowry, Lin, Flynn
    SG - Lee, Williams
    SF - Budinger, Parsons, Morris
    PF - Gasol, Patterson
C - Nene, Hayes, Hill, Thabeet

    Oh well.

David Stern is to blame for the world's problems.

This falls on Morey and/or McHale.

Even though no one could have predicted it Nene has been out for a good chunk of the season for the Nuggs.

I'm sure if anyone knew Lin could play this good we would have been willing to part with Lowry a bit more with of course draft considerations included.

Too bad we don't have crystal balls (literally and figuratively speaking) like most other members on this board that would've predicted the Asian Linsation.

it dosen't matter anyway. he would be on the bench forever. one report i read says you can list more than 30 things that have to happen before his rising. missing any one of them will mean he would be still a bench warmer or even jobless. i know it is overstated but just indicates how difficult his rising occurred.

This thread is mostly just another way for me to vent my David Stern frustration in the form of something slightly tangible that may have been.

Most likely, since we would have gutted the roster for Gasol, and lacked any backcourt depth moving Martin and Dragic.

Just another big scheme by the NBA to help the Knicks.

Not really, but it was an interesting side effect to that deal.

Maybe to start the year Flynn is ahead of Lin. But it wouldn't last long with McHale as coach, IMO.

In any case, doesn't matter. There's no point dwelling on things we have no control over.

Don't feel bad Jdawg, since Lin's rising, I've been cursing Stern for keeping Lin from blossoming in Houston. If I can let it go, you can let it go. Budinger's gonna be in the Dunk Contest!

    Thabeet would of been amnestied.

But yea, this was a screw job plain and simple.

understand it's useless to disscuss it. one thing i am trying to point out is that linsanity is a once-a-life thing. i don't want ppl here to start to blame gm or coach not playing our bench warmers.

I'm not gonna lie, this line-up looks like a top 5 line-up in the west. Oh well, March 15 can't come soon enough

Beyond what's posted above, keep in mind the Knicks pick as well.

The reverberations of this non trade are mind boggling.

No less than 5 franchises are very affected.

New Orleans is 6-23. Would they be a playoff team with Scola, Martin, Dragic and Odom? Unknown but certainly better than 6-23.

Lakers. Rebuilding on the fly...what would having a combo of Paul, Kobe and Bynum look like? Instead, they lose Odom anyways and are looking like a middle of the pack team.

Houston. Pau, Nene, Lin would probably all be Rockets now. Knicks 2012 pick would look better than it currently does.

Clippers. Instead of being a WCF favorite, would be similar to the Twolves if they play like they did last year and with no Paul.

Knicks. Franchise seemingly saved by Linsanity. Also has the added affect of not losing as valuable a pick as otherwise would have been

Hell, even the Mavericks are changed with Odom in Dallas.
