Did CD teach all of our players the hook shot?

i noticed that shane taught everyone the "hands in the shooter's face" defense. even saw yao doing it yesterday which made no sense to me.

I can't recall seeing Hakeem doing the hook.

You don't? Not every player does it the exact same way. Hakeem's was much more fluid than Yao's.

I think no one has done more to the Rockets big men than CD.

What's the chance of blocking a jump shot? Very low.

So why try to block the ball, when instead you can try to block their visual.

Yes, I noticed this. And it works extremely well. I'm surprised other teams have not started doing it.

The 2:45 mark but don't miss the rest of it. It was vintage Dream.

    Tell it, brother.

Dream did have the jump hook at UofH though, but it was pretty raw.

Our championships stem directly from what CD did and didn't do. The bashing he gets here makes me ill.

JVG clearly taught Chuck Hayes, that is why he was fired.

    ;)

lmao. 2-10 inside the arc last night. Take away the 3's and the guy is a sputtering trainwreck in an NBA offense. Luckily we have him just for badassness. :p

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6349248.html

Luis Scola backed down into the lane, made a move toward his left, then rapidly drove to his right, putting in a hook shot with a move that though strong and effective would never find its way onto the cable television highlight shows.

But Yao Ming and Dikembe Mutombo, sitting on the Rockets bench a few feet away, noticed and quickly turned to offer congratulations — to Shawn Respert.

Most of you prolly don't remember, but CD was always considered a "big man" coach. He used to do a clinic in the off season for NBA players. He was also offered the Head Coach job before Rudy, but had to turn it down due to his health at the time.

The guy is an awesome coach, especially in the post. Since he's no longer GM, he has time to work with the players again.

Sorry for the bump, but I feel like CD deserves some recognition:

How often do you come to this site? This CD being a good hook shot teacher is nothing new. For gods sake man, CD helped Hakeem be the player he was. Teachers do matter and who teaches you matters as well. If you really believe people only learn basketball on their own, you're a fool.

Ha…just noticed this is 5 or 6 years old. Nice bump, thread bumper.
