The rubber shoes we wear is made in China, it's not supporting communism, it's how the world works.

What exactly did he say that was racist?

I mean, people are calling this guy a bigot and a racist because he doesn't like communism or China? hey, if you protest Nike because you were against Child Labor - does that make you a racist?

Geez - people need to separate politics from race.

People also need to stop jumping to conclusions based on a post in a basketball GARM. Thats like reading an article in the newspaper and never questioning its source or accuracy.

And whats with the hate speak......geez racist, neo-conservative (quit listening to Hate America buzz words), bigot? WOW who's doing the hating?

Remove him from the air for his comments? That just screams censorship...and if that were the case CNN would be off the freakin' air along with most other major media out lets including Air America for their anti-american banter.

Technically if you buy products that are made in China you are supporting communism. And Yao is a slave to the chinese government since he is required to do what they ask at any given time (pretty certain that consitutes slavery). AND they do take half his earnings (after the IRS gets their share). Now does that mean I don't liike Yao.....hell now why would it...

check your emotions at the door before you start diving to deep into this type of bandwagon jumping. its pretty dangerous stuff...

I agree. Some of you guys love to throw around phrases and pejoratives so flippantly that one has to wonder if you even know the definitions of the words you choose to use.

Rewind the tape for a second, calm down, and think past your noses for a second before making comments such as likening 'conservatives' to 'racists'. I know in this day and age it is in vogue to paint with broad strokes, but c'mon guys. I'm libertarian, but even I think it's intellectually dishonest to lambaste people that broadly.

    I just don't think he's funny.

And it's sad, he really thinks he is, he laughs at his own jokes all the time.

REALLY? MY INFORMATION IS THAT NOBODY IS A COMMUNIST IN CHINA NOWADAYS. ACTUALLY, MASSACHUSATS AREA(YES, US FREAKING OF A! SOME OF THEM PRETEND THEY ARE DEMOCRATS) ALONE HAS MORE COMMUNISTS THAN IN WHOLE CHINA

The United States imported $200 billion in goods from China last year, which makes up 2% of total personal consumption expenditure.

It would be shocking if less than 99% of Americans had sent money to China in some way.

This may head to D&D, but I can't resist the temptation.

China is not a communist country -- it has never been one. Even CCP itself doesn't call PRC a communist state. So, technically you are wrong. On another *note*, PRC is holding large quantities of U.S. Treasury bonds, some of which are used to fund housing debt in this country. If you haven't paid off your mortgage, it's time to sell your house and stop supporting Commie China.

Since you are required to pay your taxes to all levels of government in U.S., does that make you an American slave? Sure, Uncle Sam never asks you to pay federal income tax in November. The thing is, PRC doesn't force Yao to play for their national team in the middle of an NBA season either.

Those guys are shock jocks, they say what they say to get a reaction, that's what talk radio is about. Considering Baker is not a sports commentator, no reason to get riled up about what he says. He's looking exactly for that response you're giving him.

I'm not ripping on Chris Baker too much, it was him that forced me to start listening to 610 in the afternoons. He always makes crap up and tries to get a response. All he does is read thru the Chronicle and disagree w/ them about stupid things. Thank you Chris Baker for driving me away!!! 610 rules

Who is this guy? George Bush III??? See, it's people who make stupid and baseless comments like this that really screws up the image of this country. They go around aimlessly touting "free speech" this and "censorship" that, just like our dear President speaks about "spreading freedom and democracy" and "liberating the Middle East".

Come on now, what do these catchphrases REALLY mean? When someone is making a baseless claim without checking the facts first PLUS inserting hatred and racism into it, that's when they've stepped out of line.

When a radio DJ works at a commercially sponsored station owned by a large corporation like Clear Channel, everything he says on air is HELD ACCOUNTABLE. That's why organizations like the FCC exist. IF he is found to have made a racist speech on air, then his company has every right to take him off the air or fine him. This is NOT censorship because he represents the company at large and their sponsors, so everything he says reflect what the company/sponsors represents. If he wants his free speech, start his own privately funded radio station and he can say whatever comes to his mind.

Second, China is country that is only communism nominally. They have long shifted away from the original communistic indoctrines by Marx and Engel, and for the past twenty something years enjoyed a mix of socialism and free market economy. Yao doesn't support the communism government per say because he never played for a state run team like Wang Zhizhi did. The CBA (Chinese Basketball Assocation) is a commercially run, non-state funded organization and part of his original contract stated that to be released by the CBA in able to play for the NBA, half of his paycheck goes to the Shanghai Sharks. Once his old contract runs out at the end of this season and his new contract begins, I believe he no longer has to oblige by that clause. Plus, he keeps 100% of his earnings from endorsements and commercials. So, as you can see, paying half of his salary to the CBA is NOT supporting communism, but fulfilling his contractual obligations to the CBA. Sure, CBA pays taxes to the government, but which country doesn't have that??

As part of his obligation to his country, Yao must participate in every MAJOR national team related basketball competition until after the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. After that, he's a free man. For how much his country has done for him and his career, this is a small sacrifice to make. I don't think he's being a SLAVE in doing so. In the end, Yao got the better end of the deal for 6 years of national duties. Plus, Yao would've signed up to help his national team EVEN IF the Chinese government didn't ask him to do so. As he had stated numerous times, winning the Olympic medal to him is more precious than winning the NBA title.

And stop with the CNN and Air American bashing already. CNN is no more liberal as Fox News is conservative. Every media outlet needs a formula to get their ratings. In the end, it's not about which side you lean but what's right and wrong. Being a blatant racist making false and baseless hateful remarks is just wrong. That person should be held accountable to it. Sacrificing the lives of thousands of innocent Americans and Iraqis by going into a pre-emptive war using false intelligence and endangering national security by uncovering a CIA operative is UNPATRIOTIC and WRONG...AND every person involved should be and WILL BE held accountable to it.

Bravo! At this pace, you will become GWB's public enemy #1 and he will grind his teeth and shout out "round out the usual suspects". In no time, you will be one of those victims in the process of him liberating the whole world, and GWB will tell the public that he swear that the god tells him to do so!

Technically Yao have to PLAY (not anythign else) for the Chinese TEAM (not government) because he agreed to his CONTRACT. Saying he's a slave to the Chinese government is one of the most moronic comments I have ever heard.

Ever sign a cell phone contract?

And gee, last time I checked, wasn't Communism kinda, against capitalism and mercentilism, which what buying products from China constitutes?

I have an idea. How about all of you email the guy. Nobody here agrees with what the dude is saying. The dude wants people to not go to Rocket games and support the Rockets and not support one of the better individuals in a detioriorating world...that all I needed to hear before I hate his guts. I'd rather hang out with the reddest red and eat pecking duck and chase it down with vodka than listen to that losers show.
