I think the talk about the small crowd is a bit overblown. Don't get me wrong. I'd love to sell out a pre-season game. But pre-season basketball isn't like pre-season football traditionally. The 10,000+ we had last night was actually a few thousand more than we had last year for the first pre-season game. It's the pre-season. The regular season opener is sold out right now except for some seats we have on hold for season ticket and mini-plan buyers -- right now the only way to guarantee getting into opening night is to buy a package. That's the night you'll be able to judge crowd noise. Tim
give me something to chear for and that'll liven up the crowd. i'm not going to cheer for a poor effort. oh look it's moochie dribbling the clock away. i have never had a worst time at a game. i hope alexander is happy. he got a new home and a loser for a coach. and i always thought he was r****ded.
Come on, those are just excuses to me, used by people who are not ready to win. I don't want our guys given that excuse and I don't want them to take it. Get me Feigen, I'm going to have it out with Tim on the front page. -Les Alexander
It was my first visit to Houston and I went there expected to see a full arena. I was in section 114. The arena was not even half full. The crowd did not react at all. I sat next to a family and a teenager boy look at me strangely when I made noise and cheer so I had to tone my voice down. (cause I was a stranger in the town) How strange!! Go to the game but not making the noise and cheering!! It would be more fun if everyone participate in cheering. I think if the fans support the team more they may get more motivation than this. The arena is very nice. I got a good view. The seat is comfortable too.
Tim's probably right on the crowd being just fine for a preseason game. All in all, I thought the experience was great at the new arena. Oh yeh, and by the way I'm sure I'll get used to seeing people eating carrot cake and cheese cake in their seats -- in any event, they said it was really good!!
Hey, were you at the Rockets/Hornets game last year in New Orleans? There was an asian guy who made a lot of noise and I always stared out. I think we must have been the only (loud) Rockets fans there.
I enjoyed being at the game but i must say the Annoucer was Horrible. I think it's that guy that used to do the promotions during timeouts and stuff and they promoted him to do the announcing and it was horrible i mean the announcer is not supposed to yell in the MIC DEFENSE while the crowd is doing it. It took him 4 times i believe to relize the Wilks is 29 and not 21. I remember him messing up Magloires name bad as someone else said. He has a really high weak voice that doesn't promoted any kind of enthusiams. I mean you have to feel the persons voice in your gut and rumble the place. He sounded nervous which is a given if he hasn't done that before but honestly he is not a good thing for the team or a new arena that is trying to get everything going. I will gladly bring my earphones to the next game if i have to put up with the way he was talking. Other than that i would have to say i had a great time at the game and thanks to the Guest Relations people that found my lost Cell phone. I ate the Houston burger which was like a double patty with cheese and chili, got some fries and a coke and it came out to 11 bucks which i figure was decent for an arena and it really tasted good. Next time ill try something else hopefully the results will be as well.
Heh. You're right, not selling out is never good enough. Eventually, I'd like us to be selling out the pre-season as well. Right now we're focusing our resources against the regular season. 10 sellouts last year, about 1/4 of the games. Up from 3 for each of the two years prior. First order of business is getting that 10 higher. Tim
