you have to be kidding, right?

check the roster from the year before morey took over and compare it to last years roster. tell me which one was more talented, deeper, and younger.

Yes, he should definitely use whatever analytical model that you applied to come up with the recommendation that we trade for Zach Randolph.

Morey needs to working on getting something for TMac, screw next year 2010 Summer FA there will be only 3 good ones and I don't think they will be wanting to come to Houston anyways. Morey should be thinking about keeping the team in the hunt this season. I don't want to make excuses again this whole season. TMac needs to go.

What does the average quality backup big make per year, assuming they are 30 are under? Do they at least make $6M a season?

I have no clue what that average number is. I just assumed it was somewhere around that because every summer I see stiffs signed for big money. But if there is one person that I trust to know that number, it's our GM. I just don't think $6M per year for a average big is that bad...but again, I'm just assuming.

First, we aren't running a used car lot.

Secondly, if we had a guy that everyone else covets, there's a good chance he's someone we'd want to keep for ourselves. The exception is you're in a bad position like Phoenix or Toronto who are sinking...in which case you've got bigger problems.

Are you actually complaining about a real contributor to the team having a small contract? You'd rather we have Chuck under some much larger, unnecessary contract to try and attract something more for him if he were available? Great idea there. Let's over pay for Hayes so we can use him later as a trade chip? Some people around here....

The team should not panic and sign Gortat to an amount they may regret in years. They should try to explore all avenues to obtain a center. Gortat is good but He is not the only center the team is looking at and if teams want him, there is a chance the Rockets would lose him or over pay him.

What is option B if Gortat signs elsewhere??? Birdman?

I hope Morey has an ace up his sleeve. Maybe a trade for Tyson Chandler, or even Camby? Just NO to Dalembert.

I'm glad Morey's staying focused and not screwing us over in the upcoming seasons.

Morey is a man secure in his job. He's not panicking over the possibility of a losing season, and he's not willing to slaughter the Rocket's cap in order to win a few extra games. You win Championships with stars, and Morey knows the best chance to acquire another franchise player is in next year's free agent class. It's not any more complicated than that.

As for not offering Gortat the full MLE, I wish he had, but I understand why he didn't.
