This makes sense and all but I see DM going for a trade that will actually give something worth-while in return, talent-wise. Milicic is garbage and none of these guys will actually help the team today.

Theoretically yes, but you will need two balls for this line up.

I have confidence in Morey (even if I have lost confidence Adelman's) to make a good deal or non-deal.

Not sure when coaches are normally given contract extensions during their contract year, but if Les really was certain he wanted him beyond this season, couldn't he just show it now, by offering him a contract extension. So maybe it isn't certain Les wants him back.

I'm sorry DD but as much as I love this hard working squad Morey has assembled, I don't think any of them would evolve to an allstar. It's not a knock on them, they can be really good players, just not allstars.

he could definitely be looking to play up c-buds value since he does have a very cheap rookie contract and has solid upside with good athleticism. morey has to be getting rep where if he doesn't want to trade a guy then that might give him more value....does that make sense?

Breaking down McGrady's large expiring into several smaller ones should be a priority, not a last resort. It allows us much greater flexibility and opens us up to new trading partners.

Well we have 2 guys shooting danged well and scoring 17ppg in Brooks and Landry, and we have a young 21 year old wing who has big upside.

Some players blow up early, others simmer until given their chance, but to say we have no all stars or no one that might become one.....or at least play as good as one is silly.

what player would u compare to budinger, if he were to become an all-star?

I think you're overrating his potential. I think his ceiling is semi-star, 17-18 ppg, not more than that. I still havent seen the ability to really shoot on the move or off a move, it's all set shots. Very few guys can make an allstar career off of that, unless they can shoot quickly with little space, like peja, but peja's shooting style allows for that, budinger's doesnt.

Not if what Chris Broussard was saying on ESPN about Morey's intentions is true. Either he gets what he wants or he's content letting him expire.

Joe Johnson, Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, and Caron Butler were not all-stars in their first few years. They developed into one. Thats what DD means.

Budinger is going to be the FIRST Budinger. What most players in his category lack is generally great passing skills. You get a lot of swingmen who can shoot, or penetrate, or draw contact etc. But not many have his passing ability. As he gets more minutes, I could see him averaging 15/4/4.

We have a team that would win at the college game. That's what we've built. But it's not going to win in the playoffs. In the NBA you need triple threat guys and we now don't have one. Chase is not that, neither is brooks because of his inability to pass out of double teams. Landry is too undersized to ever handle a double team - which he'll have to deal with in playoff situations.

I agree I want to keep these guys - but even with Yao - this team will fall short of being a contender.

You need a perimeter playmaker than can handle a double team, get to the basket, hit a jumper, or make the pass.

T-mac was perfect for that role. His court vision was outstanding. Perhaps second only to guys like Nash and Kidd in the NBA currently. You can't replace that. Now we have to find a good passer who can really shoot the ball well. It's going to be hard.

We have a team that's going to be stuck like the Jazz are now. A bunch of hard working guys, taught by a discipline coach, but lacks a closer.

Are you actually saying that one large expiring contract can get us something that 3 smaller ones cant?

How about no teams would trade for McGrady without Houston taking a non-expiring contract.

Budinger I could see being a borderline all star ala Peja....

Hurt the team this year? I thought we were playing to get ready for a run next year and that this year wasn't a title run?

RA just plain out hates Tmac...that's my opinion. I think it's personal. RA has lied through his teeth about Tmac, and Tmac has winned like a baby female dog about his situation.

To me, both RA and Tmac are primma donnas.
