Totes stoked as ****, and especially because now I'm finally caught up and can participate in this thread.
I think 2, 3 and 1 are the best, like most established series they just prove their worth early on. The Season 3 ending was brutal, but that season is probably the top of the pyramid for Jimmy Smits' career, dude cannot pick or carry new TV series to save his life. And his angry bald brother is just a perfect screen type. I think by season 4 Rita's backstory and Deb's lovelife lose any credibility, any pretense of moral ambiguity is gone, and the fact that they've still trying to project the "net social worth" theory that rationalized Dokes' death and planting heavy-handed kid-victim plotlines make it seem like suburban archconservative escapism: controlling your environment by brutally and sadistically eliminating outsiders, legality be damned.
"Nahh, thunder's just the noise, it would be lightning." Priceless. They really took some of those subplots behind the barn and just shot 'em in the back o' the head. And Hall's demeanor when they cut the victim open, good stage direction or writing notes or whatever.
Last time I saw that "wow" look from him was the whole season 1 ice truck killer bloodless victim cut into clean neat little pieces.
Watched it last night, enjoyed it. Last season he was just so sloppy with Luden, nice to see he's back to his old self.
Now that everyone else has seen it... Was I the only one who found the first scene to be incredibly sloppy and improbable?
You mean when he takes the ambulance dudes out? It is a bit of a reach, but he is the best serial killer out there for a reason.
It was fairly obvious it was a misdirection open when he called 911, I felt it was a little sloppy, but the rest of the episode was mostly on point.
