i was about to post about the books. i read the back of one of them and was wondering if it would be its own season. good to know i can get my dexter fix without spoiling the upcoming season!
I have read somewhere before that subsequent books (don't know which ones) have the series turning towards a supernatural element. Some readers were a bit miffed about it so you may want to watch out for that.
I think she will find out about dexter's mom and Harry first. I'm guessing that might put a rift in their relationship.
maybe but can she piece together things as quickly as dexter? camilla said she had destroyed most of the evidence about dexter and his past. would be interesting to see how she would react knowing that dexter saw his mother and other get killed gruesomely and had to sit in a pool of blood as a kid. Also probably finding out that the Ice truck killer was dexter's brother and knowing that Dexter probably knew too when the ice truck killer died. who knows she may feel that dexter knew all along and let her go along with it. wasnt it dexter who kept giving her clues about the killer that she then followed up on? next week's episode looks to be great, Smits' character was excellent this season is a shame he wont be back next season. Only sad thing is that the seasons are way too short IMO, 12 episodes? c'mon!
One of the main themes this season has been about Dexter's connections to friends and family. He's going to be a father. He's marrying Rita. He killed to protect Rita's children. He found his BFF in Miguel. I liked how he asked Deb to be his best man when he realized she's really his best friend. Dexter's even tried to bond better with Angel and Masuka. I think Deb will start digging up some of Dexter's past and that will cause a rift between them that will play out over season 4. It could be a humungous rift if she figures out the Ice Truck Killer connection. The season finale looks like it might kick up suspicions about Dexter as well by his colleagues and maybe Rita. Maybe not of being a serial killer, but maybe that he's hiding things. After finding how he likes having all of these family connections, it''ll be interesting to see how Dexter deals with strains in his relationships with Deb and maybe others. He killed Miguel because he was a murderer, but also because he betrayed Dexter's trust and friendship. Dexter won't really have the option of killing Deb and instead might have to try to reconcile his relationship with her.
Just caught up. I gotta say Jimmy Smits went up a couple of notches in my book. He played that character to perfection! This show has just been constant awesomeness over its first three seasons. Never a lull. Best show on TV!
didnt get a chance to post about the season finale on sunday. it was a good way to wrap up the season, though I believe the previous week's episode was much more of a dramatic peak than the finale. I wish they would have done more about deb digging into her father's past and finding more about his CIs. the only thing that it can do is possibly set up season 4. i mean there is probably a lot of dexter's dna/blood around the area where the skinner had him tied up. the blood on the dress at the end was a bit creepy. season 3 was great, though the finale was a bit below par imo, but a good way to wrap things up. season 4 looks intriguing enough, dexter wont have the freedom he once had to go out and kill, deb looking into their past, possibly being made that he was at the building where the skinner was killed man one of the best shows on tv hands down.
The finale was awesome. True, the week before Dexter killed Miguel which was one of the major pillars of the season, but I really liked how this week tied everything up. The scene in jail between Dexter and Ramon was powerful. I expected Dex to just kill the guy, but the writers handled it a lot more deftly. I liked Deb's character arc, and Dexter's acceptance and eagerness to being a father. There are a ton of possibilities for season 4, and I hate that I have to wait that long. This is my favorite show on TV right now. I'm definitely picking up the books if I don't get them for Christmas.
Jimmy Smits deserves an emmy for the job he did on this show. Maybe it was just good writing, but the way the character developed was great. I mean he just got darker and darker and I felt that same betrayal Dexter did when he tested the shirt. The finale was nowhere near as tense as the first 2 seasons, I didn't really expect anything bad to happen to Dexter when he was on that table, but I feel like he escaped way too easily.
I definitely thought he might have escaped too easy. I was thinking they were gonna make it a cliffhanger but they didn't do that last season so I didn't think they were gonna do it now. I was hoping they might at least let the skinner take some of Dexter's skin off just so he had a deeper understanding of what his victims went through.
yeah i think if they had 1 more episode then he wouldn't have escaped as quickly. they could have easily made a couple more episodes after dexter got kidnapped and finished the george king story line a little better but for some reason they only have 12 episodes! i want more! and smits was amazing this season. it was a combo of great writing and great acting and i agree he deserves an emmy. man...this show never disappoints. the writing and suspense is 2nd to none. it is amazing how much tension and suspense they are able to pack into this show. the writers and actors have an amazing thing going with this show and i hope it doesn't stop.
Let's not forget about Quinn. I have been a fan of Desmond Harrington since Ghost Ship and U-Turn, and I think Quinn is a role that really suits him. I was a little disappointed that he didn't factor more in the finale but pleased that it probably means that he'll be around for season 4. Maybe he's a step-brother? ....and I swear I know David Ramsey from somewhere...seriously.
no rita and syl lesbian encounter. boo! awesome awesome season. the scene with ramon in the jailhouse was very powerful. really showing dexter how evil miguel really was. i'm not sure that he escaped too easily, but that scene with him talking to his dad was very powerful. the show is much better with dexter having some sort of emotions...him actually caring that he would see rita and his soon to be born child gives him a lot more depth. i loved deb putting her foot in her mouth once again at a very inopportune time. glad it didn't come back to bite her in the ass. i wouldn't mind biting her in the ass though. cannot wait until season 4.
Very disappointed in the season finale. The only good scene was the the talk Dexter had with Ramon in the prison. I didn't like how the skinner story line ended, but I guess they might setting something up about finding Dexter blood at the scene for next season. Overall it was a great season, the Miguel character was a fantastic addition the show and he added alot to the show.
Just saw that Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter and Deb) got married in real life. It's going to be kind of weird watching them interact as siblings next season knowing that they're married.
