Whats the other option for the East besides Shaq? whoa, Bosh is 22/10 this year. So where's the anger about that? Plus how many games has Shaq played compared to Bosh? Canadians shold be up in arms over the Americans flooding the ballots for Shaq! Where's Cohen!!

Man, every year there is this absurd comparison to Yao, last year was Brad Miller. Stats wise I think Yao has at least equal record as Camby if not better, and Yao is under much more pressure than Camby. Yao should be in by any counts.

Man, you are right, is Shaq about done with his career? I bet this is the first time ever that he is below 50% on his field goals, that means he can no longer just power it through people like he used to do.

Let me know when Camby puts up YAOs numbers if he were double teamed every time he touched the ball  ..

If you had to pick one center to play on your team for this NBA season, to try and win a championship with, regardless of salary, just considering which player would help you win the most games, which center would you choose?

Yao Shaq Miller Camby Ben Curry Others???

Sorry, but to have the best chance to win the most games and do the most damage in the playoffs, I pick Yao.........even over Shaq.

Now, if I had to pick one of those guys to win one game or even to win one series, I'd still take Shaq daddy. But Shaq is older and less reliable than Yao is now. All the rest of those guys are downgrades. Take Camby off the Nuggets and plug in Yao and the Nuggets are a much better team. Take Yao off the Rockets and plug in Camby and the Rox are a worse team. Same way with all the rest of them.......save a healthy and rested Shaq.

Yao is arguably the best center in the game..........right now. He more than deserves to start in the All Star game.

I'm sorry, but Camby is putting up better numbers then Yao and does have a case to say he should be the starting center. There's nothing wrong with Camby stating that - his team's record and what he's done backs him up.

Sure, the All-Star ballot isn't about who's the best though - but Camby has a point...we can acknowledge that at least.

The original poster bolded his quote where he states that the CHinese vote will get Yao the starting nod. This myth has been perpetuated by Shaq before him and discredited by the NBA ni previous years. Numbers wise, he has a good point that he is having the better year. Our problem with him is his ignorance of the fact that Yao is more popular in America than him anyway and therefore the Chinese vote won't even impact whether or not Yao gets the start over him.

Oh, Camby's got a case. So did Adrian Dantley, John Stockton, Alex English, Dominique Wilkins, Bernard King, Artis Gilmore, and a whole host of others when Bird, Magic, Erving, Parish, and others were voted in.

And he can make an argument with his stats. So what.

Bottom line: Yao is the better player.........this year. Camby isn't getting dissed anymore than all the great players that have either missed the game or not been elected starter but were picked as reserves, when they had better scoring or rebounding or assists or blocked shots or whatever than whoever was voted starter. Camby has had an outstanding year.....for Camby.

Exactly, if Camby had simply said "Yao's getting the starting nod over me only because he's more popular despite my superior numbers" and left it at that, I woulda said, yeah that sounds right.

I think the fact that the All Star game is in Houston is a lot bigger factor than the Chinese voters.

Moreover, I think a lot of fans from teams that would like to have Yao--Lakers, Golden State, etc--also voted for Yao because they harbor some delusion that one day they will sign him.

Well, Shaq just got back from that injury of his and it will probably take him some time to round into shape (relatively speaking). I don't think Shaq is 'done' with his career by any means and will be back to having a huge impact in Heat games soon enough.

Wasn't it just a few days many people wanted to trade Yao for Ron? I am all for that trade actually. :D

camby's point is that the chinese vote gets yao in, which is totally false. this myth perpetuates through basically everyone in the media who doesn't bother to do any research so it's no surprise that a player wouldn't know either.

That's the first time I've ever seen the word "lightly" used in a discussion about Shaq :D

    Memo to Nuggets:

Camby does not affect the game as much as Yao. And, Melo has aboluately no chance of making the ASG. I can think of Tmac, TD, KG, Brand, Dirk all being light years ahead of him if it comes down to coach selection.

That Adam Thompson guy needs to do his homework -he got Yao's stat line wrong.
Its 19.8 points and 9.1 rebounds.

I've noticed since Yao's rookie year that the Denver sportswriters hate Yao for some reason.
Starting with Woody Paige from the Denver Post and all his minions over there.
Now they got this wanna be writing this bull.
