My post didn't suggest it was a one-sided problem, and I even provided a counter-example. Don't paint every post with a certain assumption.

As for addressing it, I would hope to return to a time when someone like John McCain told a crazy woman that no, in fact, Obama was a decent human being and not some evil muslim extremist. If politicians can say "I don't like these other people or their policies, but, um, actually they do not run child sex rings out of pizza parlors." But there is silence. And sure I can paint other examples. I also really criticize Dems, for instance, for their literal investment in crazy-pants fringe candidates in primaries. For short term gains, there's a long-term negative shadow for that, IMO.

In other words, not suppressing free speech but encouraging adult behavior and a long view from our elected reps. Unfortunately, the only way to enforce that is sane actions from the voting public, and non-rabid primary elections... so, yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly don't give ATW a discussion about this. He's pivoted to being a sincere "asking questions guy" while the days following the attack spamming conspiracies.

That's the issue here. We are treating ATW as someone outside the media consumption that this mentally ill guy consumed. He is knee deep in this ****. What mentally healthy human spends hours a week on a message board talking about the evils of trans people, wokeism, and Muslims?

@tinman is another person I would be suspicious of as someone who will be prone to extremist actions but I'm sure he's just making fun of people obsessed with wokeism. It's a long running shtick though.

Only my theory but it seemed Pelosi was trying to talk him down and kept him halfway calm and then when the cops showed up, he felt betrayed by Pelosi and it doesn't take long to swing a hammer and his mental illness kicked into overdrive.........the guy has issues and needs help. I don't look at it as a left or right thing but a human being with serious issues. What I take as a complete joke are the innuendos about what people think happened and spin that simply because its Nancy`s husband, very cheap shots, but that's the world we live in

I’m suspicious of anyone with that much time on their hands to get that deep in this stuff. What’s the saying about Idle hands doing the devils work?

Just look at what happened even to one of the smartest men alive in Elon. The internet can break your brain if you go down these rabbit holes just because you are bored, and then you get off on trolling to “own the Libs” out of this desperation in life to feel empowered or whatnot.

Well, thanks, but I'll do what I like, though I wander less into D&D than I once did. It's taught me a lot about people, but one thing I've learned (maybe incorrectly) is not to over-assume what random posters have in terms of background, aims, or intents.

Not saying your closing question isn't legit, but I enjoy spending time here too (usually), so not going to throw that particular stone. Cheers.

Why are people still engaging with this guy? You know he's not having this discussion on good faith. Couple of weeks ago he was spamming content that it was a love quarrel.

Of course you'll do what you like but I'm just perplexed why people still engage with him? I mean do a casual peruse of the literal hours of content dedicates to trans people, Muslims, "wokeists". If a mass shooter had their manifesto released to the public and it was just word for word ATW rants on these things, no one would blink an eye.

People would be like "of course"

How many times have you responded to something he's written in, say, the last week?

If you think people shouldn't engage with him, you can start by putting him on ignore and not engaging with him.

Nobody "engages" with me more than you do...it's a bit stalkerish, to be honest.

And saying such things as you do in this post actually unfortunately seems like projection from your own mental instability more than anything.

Let me rephrase so I'm very clear. When I mean "engage" why are people engaging with him in a sincere discussion of what happened at Paul Pelosi's door after him spamming conspiracies about some gay love quarrel?

Why are you pretending he sincerely is discussing this?

I don't mean don't reply to him. I'll call him out as much as I feel like I need to.

Please quote a post where I would have stated as fact that there was a gay quarrel. Thanks in advance.

People have conflicting views on things, and how we talk about a topic might change depending on our mood or the people involved. Most of us aren't 100% consistent or rational. And I think we all erect certain personas on here that may not totally reflect what we personally believe.

So, when it comes to political discussions, I don't feel I'm engaging with anyone here directly. I don't know what people really believe, in their hearts.

Rather, I will make an effort to assume as charitable a view of another person's position as I can, based on their responses, and engage with that.

If the conversation looks like it's not going anywhere -- neither of us seem to be getting anything out of it -- I'll end it. If there's a pattern of conversations with that individual not going anywhere, I'll be less likely to start up another one with them. If what that person posts frequently puts me in a foul mood, I'll put them on ignore for some time.

That's how it goes with me.

Again, I'm not telling you not to reply to him. I'm merely warning he isn't discussing this in good faith and the evidence is the many pages of this thread about 3 weeks ago.

Yes you were asking questions. Just like I can ask questions about your pedophile tendencies.

If I ask you your thoughts on an article you posted and your key takeaways why don't you respond?

you don't typically ask. Like your imperative to @B-Bob, you frame your "asks" in the imperative mode. Makes it hard to respond. B-bob is simply more polite than I am

Does it hurt your feelings when I say things imperatively. Does my "imperative" nature hold a gun to your head and compell you to do things against your will?

You know how many times posters warn other posters here to stop engaging with another poster. Hell I'm sure ATW has done it himself. And when I mean engage I mean engage in good faith as if he sincerely is curious about the nature of Pa Pelosi's attack outside the one narrative to disconnect the attacker's ideology to his ideology.
