We dont want this guy, trust me. Why is he going on sale if he is even an OK player. I have seen plenty of his play, he flat out sucked, esp in the last couple years.

My guess is they'll use the remaining MLE or TE if the opportunity arises. If they add someone significant, a trade would be obvious because of what they are allowed to spend, but they'd also want to stay comfortably under the luxury tax threshold this year and the next.

Rockets lose Deke, Rybo and Hayes next year but team salary increases without adding their replacements.

Players like George, Buckner, Johnson, and Croshere are great additions to a team like the Mavs, but I really don’t fault the Rockets at all for not pursuing them. They’re nice veteran players you add AFTER you’ve already established your young core group of players, as the Mavs have. The Rockets aren’t at that stage yet. They still to worry about finding some young starting caliber talent before they worry about adding some veterans for depth.

George for the vet. minimum? That is not just a steal. It's high-way robbery.

I wonder why these kind of things never happen to the Rockets.

Battier is only a couple of years younger than Buckner and George.

Actually we all tought that we had such a steal last year, remember Stromile Swift. And it didn't turn out that way.

I'm not sure what i think of George he was a nice player, however i do not know how much playing time he will have in dallas, we will see.

I totally concur. Don't let his streaky 3 pt shooting fool you.

George, Buckner, Croshere? None of them really impress me. If any see extended playing time in the near future, then the mavs aren't as good as they should be.

The man was had for the vet minimum. He doesn't even count against the mav's cap. You want to know who our 11th man backup foward-for-the-minimum is? Ryan Bowen. And we gave him two years guaranteed while the mavericks give one. I'd say their front office is a little better than ours.

I amazes me how people will dog out a move
    then
turn around a slurp slurp over the signing of a Euro who ain't don SQUAT
Devean George has NBA experience and has done it against NBA competion
    but
the IN GUNDY, CD and MOREY WE TRUST crowd
will dog a SOLID MOVE like that
then get over giddy behind KB, JL3 and Novak

I'm not big on George but
    to dog
this while slurping the kool aid on the rockets move is ridiculous

He is a Solid Bench guy . . nothing more
considering we have no bench . . .

Rockets could do with a few of these cheap yet solid NBA vets
    [not elderly vets]

Alexander isn't the problem people. name a single trade or contract that he's nixed b/c he didn't want to pay. he wants the Rockets to win just as much as Cuban wants Dallas to. the reason you don't seem to realize this is b/c Alexander acts as professional in the stands. jezus man, you guys do realize it's the GM that tries to put the team together right? now, you can blame Alexander for keeping CD this long, but don't go blaming Les for the not trying to put a good product out there.

I don't recall reading anything positive about George over at Lakersground in what... maybe the last 3 years. Laker fans are glad to see this guy go... he has seriously declined over the last few years. Maybe I'm wrong and the change of scenery will reinvigorate him, but I don't think the Rockets missed out on that much.

Yeah, I'd kill for depth like that. [Insert bitter joke here about us trading 2 players for a role player.]

I don't understand the hate in this thread. This was a very good move for the Mavs. They got a decent veteran with playoff experience... for peanuts. As SamFisher said, the rich get richer.
