Obama has never been one for theatrics or doing things because they look good or bad. He didn't care about the ACA looking bad, or using the words "Islamic Terrorist" and always had a disdain for optics.

He's not going to go to Louisiana unless he thinks doing so will have positive impact. That's been his MO for 7 years and change. Why do people think it would change now?

You'll stoop to any depth to find an excuse to defend Obama. It's pathetic.

Leadership. It's about empathy and consoling people. It's about uplifting their spirits in their time of need. It's not about that Martha's Vineyard elite lifestyle while others suffer.

    Exactly.

I don't get what is going to change if he does go to Louisiana. There are local authorities who can do their job and if need be of the federal government, they'll contact Obama's administration. Is he supposed to get on a canoe a rescue someone?

Should The president go to Oklahoma every time a tornado kills someone or 12 people? Or to California for every fatal landslide?

Leadership is also about empowering those beneath you to thrive in their roles so you don't need to micromanage and step in every time there is a crisis.

This is also why I have no issue with the "heck-of-a-job Brownie" comments. Bush was trying to lift his spirits despite the FEMA failures.

For those who think Obama doesn't care...

The Governor would actually prefer that the President doesn't come until 10 days later, because it takes away too many resources that could be used in other places...

Louisiana struggles as historic, deadly flooding continues

After tweeting how the media did him wrong during the worst of it? Nay, I do not want him here for political stunt.

Obama did quickly declare a fed disaster area. I'm disappointed the us, the media and most politician didn't seems to care much for what is going on here.

But, two things. Yes, it's a large disaster from an unprecedented and record breaking rain event but not so big in total $ damages and live lost. But probably more importantly and a more pessimistic view is this is more of a norm going forward. Extreme weather will occur more and it's going to cost a lot to the federal government and to the people impacted.

This is a job for the POTUS. Something I think Mr. Obama has taken to heart and personally suffered for judging by the physical effects the office has had on him.

It does sort of stump how the same people that are criticizing him for this event would expect Donald Trump to handle sorrowful, solem, compassionate reconciliation.

All talkkk- typical. You probably never volunteer for anything, yet you sit back and pontificate behind your computer about crap you know nothing about.

Have you ever even volunteered your time at all?? Seriously, did YOU any victims of Hurricane Katrina? Did YOU assist 9-11 victims? Did YOU help those ravaged by tornadoes? Are YOU going to get up off your ass and go to Baton Rouge to help these victims? How about, for once in your life, you get off your ass, unglue your fingers from the keyboard, and help out???????
