I don't see how it does. The shooting happened during service, with a bunch of witnesses. Whether or not the pastor is the father, the man still held a brick and intended harm with it. Seems like self defense from the articles.

and if he wasn't shot he there would still probably be a hostage situation with those people and the man and his brick.

Legally, it's probably still self defense and I doubt he'll be arrested. But, morally it casts the shooting in a much different light.

It takes 4-5 shots to stop a brick?

That's an entirely different issue than what I'm discussing about the article. You can start a debate on if you believe firearms should be allowed for self defense.
The morality of the pastor is the only controversial angle of this story and if his members still think he's fit to lead a congregation. The deceased probably should have just taken this to Maury to sort it out there.

A wolf threatened the flock and the Shepard protected them and himself. Nothing to see here.

Well, just time the parabola. If you can see it, you can flee it.

Maybe he was killing him so he would not speak out about the Pastor's infidelity in church.
He killed him to keep the secret . . .

Jesus is a huge supporter of concealed/carry permits....

Seriously, during Church a Pastor was carrying heat?

I am not saying pastors need to be strapped, but there was a massacre at a church a few months ago. I am not saying he should have been carrying, but I understand.

Doesn't seem to have worked. Given how quickly I learned of it, probably it was already floating around the church before the shooting.

Bricks aren't very effective at killing.

    Seriously.

One shot to the foot/leg and the chances of the guy doing any damage with the brick drops to none. The pastor obviously was shooting to kill and wanted to end him. Nobody panics 5 shots to somebody holding a brick, that was a choice.

Super odd thing with the love triangle/father story too, seems like a really weird and sad situation.

And like others have mentioned, why is pastor strapped during service? What all is behind that alter? Bible, holy water, wine/crackers... oh and just a loaded colt 45. Maybe it had something to do with the church shooting in Ferguson, but a man with a brick, going for the pastor who had sex with his wife, it no where near the same as a mass murdering man with a gun.

Just nuts from all angles. Vaya con Dios.

Sounds like it was an ongoing conflict, so the pastor was likely on guard in case this particular guy came into the service to try and start something.

Even so, packing heat isn't really indicative of someone who is trusting in the Lord. But this is a guy who took advantage of the fact that he was providing housing to a young couple in need in order to impregnate another man's wife. So I guess I shouldn't expect too much from him.
