Screw the Pistons and the Palace.

I hear Houston is a much nicer city anyway , when I think of Detroit I think of the "malice at the palice" (violence) and Eminem on 8 mile (more violence and hideous, desolate streets and stuff)

If Battier wants that crap , he can have it.

I watched 8 Mile on a visit to Detroit a few years ago. IMO, that movie NAILED it. I was only there for 3 or 4 days, but from what I could tell from spending a fair amount of time walking around and talking to people there, the way 8 Mile depicts Detroit is dead-on.

not really. i worked on 8 mile for a bit, and it isn't even the worst part of town. even though the east side gets a bad rap, things are slowly improving.

as for the palace of auburn hills, take a peek at auburn hills. it's in the 2nd or 3rd richest counties in the u.s. ... doesn't surprise me shane would want to return. the "violence" there was a bunch of spoiled rich kids who probably played dare...

fyi the guy who threw the cup of beer got a lifetime ban from the palace...

I was going to say the same thing.. the Palace is in a really nice part of the Detroit suburbs. Troy, where I stay when I go up there, has the one of the highest gross income averages in the country.

I never really had any problems in Detroit either. It may have been different years ago, but if it was they have cleaned the city up really well.

Actually, I was talking to all the Detroit fans around me on Saturday and they were really nice. Asking about all the former KY players on both teams (there were a total of 3 + Chuck on the bench) and asking about the Rockets season so far. Even when I cheered for Yao and Tmac they didn't say anything to me. But then I was cheering when Tayshaun Prince did something good too, so that may have tempered any possible anger my Rockets cheers might have created.

    BHEWIAVGAB.

Battier Hater Except When I'm Accusing Van Gundy of Alienating Battier.

P.S. Write it down: Battier WILL finish his career as a Piston. In a suit.

I know we're dreaming, but the Pistons have to WANT Battier first. I wouldn't see them trading any starter for Battier except Nazr. Battier and 3 bench dudes or a low pick is more like it.

Typical piece when a player plays a game in his hometown.

What's Battier supposed to say when the local reporter inevitably ask him the question? "Play in Detroit? Damn I ain't going back to that toilet! I worked hard to get my ass out of there. Got Duke education and a pretty sweet gig. Just settling into Houston, too... I AIN'T gonna go back for Detroit!!"

Battier can get the hell out of here, he hasn't done s*** and I'm not impressed with his defense so far either. He can go right to Detroit tommorow for all I care.

Lets trade him for Tayshaun Prince. He has pretty good "intangibles" too.

This is why I'm a little skeptical of Mr. Great Teammate. He just rubs on me as a guy who's got a nice attitude and work ethic, who'll prolly take that wherever he goes, but doesn't necessarily have his heart in the right place. In other words, I think the reason he's not as effective here in Houston is because he doesn't feel like part of the team.

    Or its just the coach.

Why suddenly all the hate towards Battier. I love it that he is part of our team.

I agree with Van Gundier. What was he supossed to say? Also i'm not sure if this is exactly what he said, he just doesn't seem like something he would say, he always says the right thing.

Battier for Tayshaun straight up. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Tay's WAY longer than Battier, more athletic, has a better offensive game.

Only thing Battier has on Tay Prince is probably his flopping and bulk.

Battier's got 5 more seasons on his current contract. He's probably got 7 or 8 more years until he's thinking about finishing his career.

Battier is TOO SMART to say something that would undermine the team's/fan's confidence in him

he is probably smarter than most of the posters on this board (not me ofcourse :p ) and I just dont see how he meant any 'unfaithfulness' towards the rockets with what he has said

think about it....shaq saying something like this?? I can understand..but an articulate and prudent scholar from duke?? no way

I think the fans are been too sensitive
