You guys need to watch more hoops other than the Rockets and the Rockets on ESPN Classic.

Deshawn would be a good addition for you guys. He is athletic and big for a SG. He can get his own shot off the dribble. Has really just started to establish his game should only be 23-24 years old. His range should be increasing as he matures as a player.

Oh and the sexual assualt thing was like a 16 year old girls parents reporting him when he was 18 or something similar.

I like him. I just don't want to pay him 4.2 million dollars a year. I wonder if he would settle for less?

ideally, tmac should be the only 2004 magic on this team.

Mike James would be a better investment with the MLE, he is the guy I would target especially if we wind up with Shelden Williams. I have to agree about Deshawn's game, he's big and athletic and spends a lot of energy on defense, he would be a step in the right direction for the Rox to assemble a big, deep, athletic back court to challenge the Mavs and Suns.

If you want to see Stevenson (or any other player for that matter) in action this site has video breakdowns on players:

    http://www.mysynergysports.com/website/members/login.aspx

They have a free trial for the rest of the playoffs, so check it out while you can.

Watching Stevenson a bit, my impressions are:

Like Bogans, he's a very streaky shooter. He puts up some real ducks sometimes. He leans back a lot on his jumpers, and it doesn't look like it should go in, but some of them do. He's quicker and more athletic than Bogans though. And is a much better finisher who can go up with both hands. He can play off the ball a bit which is nice, but like I said, he's a streaky shooter.

Is he worth our bigger trade exception? I don't know. I do like the idea of converting our TE into a player and still retaining our MLE. But I don't know if Stevenson is worth a longterm contract. Depends on how good of a defensive player he is, I guess.

he reminds me of shanson anderson when we first signed him. a young athletic 2 guard who can attack the basket is is supposed to be a good finisher. we were sure his ball handling and shooting would improve.

I'm not even sure Weisbrod would be dumb enough to pull the trigger on this nonnsense.

That's why it's convenient that Stevenson is looking to be signed and traded for our TE, not signed with our MLE.

from what i remember, the sexual assualt charge was from the parents of his high school girlfriend. when stevenson went pro and turned 18, she was still 16 (i believe). that's when the suit got filed by her parents.

i wouldn't call him a thug for that.

I dont know about his shooting but he could definately give us some much needed athleticism and youth.

For those who think the 82games.com stats are worth anything, he doesn't fare particularly well: http://www.82games.com/0506/05ORL6D.HTM

For the Trade Exception, I think he's a decent candidate. We'd have to give the Magic something to make it worth their while, however, like a draft pick. (Btw, can you use the TE for a sign-and-trade?) I don't know if he's worth $4.2 million. However, I really don't want to see the Rockets let that TE expire without getting anything.

I don't really want to use our TE on him, but if he is the only hope that is left that we could use with our TE then might as well use it. I think we should trade our 8th pick for their 11th&Stevenson.

He doesn't shoot threes, he doesn't rebound, and he doesn't defend. Why would he even be an option?

If he's not using it to rebound or defend, it doesn't have that much value for us.

This might be a decent option if we spend our full MLE on a player like James and Bogans thinks he's worth more than minimun salary and doesn't want to come back.

Because he's athletic, which means he's an automatic upgrade. None of our current role players can shoot. I wouldn't worry much about his defense though, with his athleticism JVG will fix that aspect of his game pretty quick.

Why are we only focusing on Deshawn when the article mentions other players who i rather have on the rockets before him. If we are able to get Radmanovic or Matt Harpring by our trade exception then thats the way to go. So NO to DeShawn.

Because it's been noted that DeShawn WANTS to come here because T-Mac is his pal. He is the only one so far who has shown interest.

and what are the odds of us landing MJ with just the MLE? slim-to-none.

if deshawn is looking for an S'nT for part of it, you have to at least consider it. we're entirely too unathletic to not give it shot.
