I think he gets suspended… but not the severity as was previously intended. There still 4 cases out there, so it should be interesting.
I don’t think the league stands a chance against the NFLPA. They have no criminal charges. No precedent to suspend someone based purely on lawsuits. They screwed up the Kraft case and going after a black player for the same thing would be horrible optics.
Watson has settled 20 of the 24 cases: https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...allege-sexual-misconduct-massages/7688001001/
They didn't screw up the Kraft or Snyder cases. There's a different set of rules for rich, white male owners compared to black football players.
Jameis Winston was suspended for 3 games for inappropriately touching an Uber driver. She sued and the suit was settled.
There’s also difference between consenting to perform a sexual act for payment (Kraft) And forcing yourself upon dozens of women (Watson)
No evidence this was the case - Watson physically forcing himself on these women because that would definitely be a clear cut case of criminal sexual assault. Had that been the case, Watson would be wearing a nice orange jumpsuit right now. Also I like how you conveniently overlooked the fact that Kraft's place of "consensual entertainment" was busted for human trafficing of women which raises the question of just how "consesnual" this was on the part of the women.
We both know it doesn’t work like that for rich and famous athletes like Watson. He’s getting away with criminal acts. Period
I have a question for those of you who might be more familiar with the rules for suspending a player than I am. Could the league suspended Watson for 2 years but make it retroactive to last season? This would do a couple things: 1) It would be a better look for the league because it would be more in line with what the MLB did with Trevor Bauer 2) I imagine they could force Watson to pay back his salary from last season, which from a quick google search is somewhere between 10 and 17 million.
I was listening to 610 and they were talking about how this doesn't prove he was guilty nor does it mean the ladies were gold diggers, I do think a few of the women were going for the cash but I also feel like this makes Watson look guilty, I know the legal mumbo jumbo and all the other nonsense, but dude just paid off 20 woman that he didn't "disrespect" ..........yeaaaaa. I hope the 4 others drag out so he doesn't get to just sweep everything under the rug, the first case AS did not settle and I say good good for her IMO the NFL will go for a year and they will settle for 7..............dang, if watson would have done this last year he could possibly be on the field game one
I'd say anywhere from 10 games to a full year and this is to punish the Browns for guaranteeing that entire Contract. They've opened pandora's box.
