What a weird stance. If you don’t want to carry water for a piece of **** you shouldn’t defend his character at all. No one blames him for taking money, they blame him for immediately wanting to leave after he took it. Oh and the fact that he is a sexual deviant Nobody thinks ****ing athletes should be pure and righteous what the hell are you talking about. They aren’t driven by the same motivations as normal people. Normal people don’t have jobs where winning a game is part of the job description. Money matters to everyone but winning matters to almost all elite athletes. Hell almost all people that are elite at something are driven by more than money.
I don't think thats correct. From what I recalled, Watson wanted more input on the direction of the franchise in general; GM, HC, etc. Watson and Cal met, supposedly had dinner and discussed it. Afterwards, Jack Easterby convinced Cal to hire Nick Caserio, without consulting Watson. Thus, Watson felt he was betrayed. I don't necessarily think it was a black or white type of a situation, although Eric Bieniemy was being looked at as a potential HC.
Well for number one, it is correct. There were articles on which GM Watson wanted, Omar Khan, a Black man, from the Steelers. Watson also wanted Bienemy, a Black HC. When Khan was not hired at GM and it was Caserio, that’s when you saw the trade articles from Watson’s camp about Cal not doing enough for social justice issues. Also, after Caserio was hired is when you saw the Watson cryptic tweets. Having input and making the decision who is hired are two different things. A smear campaign was started against Cal that he was a racist.
Why even have contracts then if a guy can force a trade 6 months after he signed a record deal? Personally I would rather teams only sign guys to one year deals across the entire NFL if this is the way it's gonna be. That way the players salary would be based totally off of their performance from year to year. If that's the way a guy like Watson and DM want things to be, then do it for the entire NFL and see how they like things then. And yes, signing a record contract and backing out of it 6 months later shows his word ans signature isn't worth crap.
Kinda similar to James Harden, Deshaun did the Texans a huge favor by demanding a trade because they reaped a windfall and started a successful rebuild. In his case in particular, it also allowed the franchise to cleanse itself of his presence.
We sure should do that, agreement and all, but will that stop certain people from arguing about it for another 7 years? I think not.
This is exactly where things should have ended, and they are DONE. Yet there's a couple of annoying morons who want to keep chiseling around.
I'm decidedly *not* defending his character. And yes, @raining threes was absolutely blaming him for taking the money. This is what can happen when you jump into the middle of a conversation. There are plenty of reasons to drag Watson's character. Taking large sums of money when it's offered to you isn't one of them. They're driven by money. All of them. Just like you & me. The number of examples that prove this are innumerable.
