I follow the 49ers very closely. This was a stunning loss but it may be good for them in the long run. The offense needed some humble pie after the 30-point streak and scoring 42 on the Cowboys last week.
Yep! Purdy is making CMC, Deebo and Kittle better than they’re playing and his o-line has been horrible.
By that strategy Watson should have had way more yards and no interceptions in his first 3 games like Purdy did. I guess they're the dumbest team in the league by 100 for going after Watson, even if he was a great guy, and not a creep boy. Cleveland's defense and offensive line are ranked in the top 3.
Ya, brown’s definitely have the skill players sf has and the browns also have shanny. Good catch! Can’t believe I didn’t notice. Nobody ever said anything about watson so idk where that crap is coming from or how it’s related to anything but you do you
I guess you didn't realize you are in a Deshaun Watson thread. SMH I was comparing his stats to Purdy, who you were criticizing
LOL, what a weird take on Purdy. Don't get your logic, but don't care really. Not a 49ers or Browns fan, but I think Purdy's stats have been better than a lot of QBs in the league, who have plenty of talent around them too. If you believe any QB would put up stats as good as Purdy in 6 games on the 49ers I'd say you're crazy.
You can spew whatever nonsense you want, doesn’t matter. If you think mahomes or allen or herbert or 10 other guys couldn’t do what purdy is doing with shanny and all that talent, you’re completely clueless
The ability for QB's to read defenses at the line, anticipate how the routes will adjust based on coverage patterns, go through progressions, be able to look people off/not telegraph.... not to mention be able to evade potential pressure, stand tall in the pocket, and use footwork to adjust to where the pressure is coming from... and after ALL of that, be able to actually deliver an accurate/precise throw that hits a guy in stride, or make the throw before the receiver even knows its coming or has gotten open... is just a microcosm of why some QB's with all the physical gifts/tools/speed/arm-strength are failures, and some who are Mr. irrelevant, find success.
I never said any of those guys aren't top 10 talented quarterbacks. I'm saying you are nuts if you think you can put mediocre guys on that same team and they will miraculously become one of the leagues top passing yards leaders or have a RTG over 100.
and yet SF has done just that, so clearly it's very possible. System matters, the players on the team matter. You can say it doesn't, but it does
Kyle runs the 49ers offense with a rod of iron. Every QB that plays for him must function as a system QB. Purdy is a very smart guy who is a perfect fit. He can go through progressions, throw accurately and has very good pocket presence and mobility. His only "weakness" is not having a huge arm but their system, play-calling and elite skill position players more than make up for that. (Most non-49ers fans don't even know Deebo is below both CMC and Aiyuk on the totem pole). Like CJ, Brock Purdy still has a lot to learn and experience. He needs to struggle a few times to grow. I think it's amazing how he's gone next-level this year without any throwing in the off-season and not even being fully healthy until game 1. I say all that to say this: Not everyone could do what Purdy has done, but he's VERY fortunate to be playing on the 49ers. There are 17 games and I'm hoping the first 5 aren't the peak of his season.
I never said a good team won't make it easier for a QB to perform better. That's common sense. I said not "anybody" who is an NFL QB, no matter how mediocre can miraculously become as skilled and accurate any of the top quarterbacks, just by playing on the same exact team, and in the same scenario. LOL Anyway, I'm getting off this merry-go-round. We just have different viewpoints.
Fair. I don’t think he’s good, i think if he was on a mediocre team nobody would care about him, same as guys like ridder and howel and dobson
[Withers] Watson confirms it is the rotator cuff. He’s not sure if he can get back to 100% this season.
