The police had solid video evidence that Kraft and the spa staff committed a crime. In Watson's case the accusations weren't deemed credible enough by a grand jury to indict Watson. That said both men should be suspended by the NFL for conduct unbecoming of their stature in the league.

Gee, who would have guessed? Exactly what anyone with half a brain should have already known was going to happen. I don’t mind the punishment nearly as much as I hate the bullshit it was wrapped up in.

 

I agree on both points. Watson negotiated the fine with the Browns by backloading his salary for this contract. They should average the total salary for the length of the contract by game and fine him whatever amount that equals for the length of the suspension.

 

Anyone want to know what comes next? After a short amount of contrition, there will be a carefully crafted campaign to rebuild Deshaun Watson’s image. He’ll be doing “volunteer” work, helping out old ladies, establishing community organizations for whatever hot button issues happen to be trendy at the moment, and in time most of this will be basically forgotten. It’s all a scam. Every ounce of it. He’s not the first, and he won’t be the last. Don’t forget that and don’t fall for the bullshit. And always follow the money.
