No franchise operates on the "well, let's take less value so that if our current guy sucks, we salvage something of the deal" philosophy. It's a failure mentality. If you don't trust your current guy with draft picks, you probably should fire him.
Yeah, I feel like this is pretty straight-forward. Trying to get this spread out over years isn't bad value, but it definitely will extend the timeline of this roster rebuild we're going through. So far, despite the criticism he's received, I think Nick has handled everything extremely well. Even down to the report that he paused the trade to try to get more in return, I'd be ok with that. Under no circumstances do you just let a guy of this talent go.
Well that actually may be to our advantage as DW will have to expand his list of teams if MIA is out. Philly now has 3 guaranteed 1st rd picks and would love to get 2 next year and 1 the following year + more assets.
Didn't the Texans trade up with Cleveland to grab Watson? Would be funny if he ended up there anyway.
Kareem Hunt doesn't fit the criteria of a Texans player. He probably woulda have done it for D. Johnson though. He loves those running backs named D Johnson.
A Phins writer piled on, nothing new except the acknowledgement they missed a chance, the price is going up and MIA should stay with Tua... https://phinphanatic.com/2021/12/25...face-competition-for-unneeded-deshaun-watson/
If I was Watson I would accept a trade to Cleveland. The Browns with Watson are a Super Bowl contender. Winning would rehab his image more than anything else.
"Deshaun, do you want to go to Cleveland? Will you waive your no trade clause to go to Cleveland?" Deshaun: In before... "Who cares what that sexual rapist predator wants! He'll go to Cleveland (or wherever I want him to go) and he'll like it! Cleveland >>>> prison (where he belongs)."
I don’t see how Cleveland can produce enough draft capital to compete with teams such as Miami(if they’re even still interested), New York Giants, Carolina, or Philly.
I had this debate with my brother. Not only that, but Philly just has to sit out the first round one year instead of three straight. It's better for their team building, as well. They also don't want to have to pay three good rookies at once either.
